John, Most TS/hotels eventually become outdated and in need of updating.Materials cost more now than when most were built in the 80's & 90's on SXM.If the owners are actually using the special fees for updating thats fine with me.As you know we purchased a French side TS about 3 yrs ago. Knowing the time of yr/week we purchased and the cost of hotel rooms we are about even this comi

Barbara, Maybe a stupid question but do you know if the major airlines have stopped flights to SXM.

IMO if you recieved the use of your TS unit many times/yrs you certainly got your moneys worth and more.Based apon hotel rates of $200.00 -$350.00 a night you are way ahead.I remember when the Pelican was built & when DIVI took over Little Bay Beach Hotel. I feel your very lucky since the TS companies could have imposed these special fees a few yrs after your purchase or when they wanted.IMO

Barbara, I agree I can't believe tourists book a trip to the carib (different country)and think it should celebrate American holidays.I've told this true story before about the woman next to me on flight 667 20 yrs ago.She brought down a totally cooked Thanksgiving dinner with her on the plane.

I forgot to add the question people would ask if there are any good restaurants in Grand Case.

How about the people who ask if its safe to stand behind the jets taking off. Or do THEY speak engish there or how's the weather. Another one of my favorites is do THEY celibrate Thanksgiving & New Years on SXM.

Barbara, Funny but I met a guy who actually lived close to us on L.I. at the Mullet Beach Golf/Bar. Was it named the 19th hole or something different I can't recall. But this guy brought down with him 2 cases of Absolute Vodca (sp) because he was afraid SXM won't have his favorite. He paid the bartender $2.50 for each setup. Those were the DAYS.

Pat, I remember the drug spot in Marigot yrs ago by the Animal shop area too. We were not directly approached there but I blind person could see what was going on at that corner. The last time we were asked to buy in Phillipsburg the guy won't go away.I guess he finally realized how angry I was becoming and he walked away into an alley. My point is that yrs ago our only worry was making sure

My excitement dropped several yrs ago when I was approached many times on Front St by a lowlife to buy drugs. My first trip to Phillipsburg was in the late 70's and we never experienced drug sellers in town.I was especially suprised because it was across from the Police station.Plus the overbuilding, traffic congestion, and huge rise in crime is a problem for us.However we've learned to

Besides robberies be aware that SXM has a huge CC fraud problem in recent yrs.Last Feb our CC info was somehow given to a group from S. America (3 men and 1 woman)criminals who made a Citi Bank CC with our name & number.Remember to check your home phone messages frequently to check if your CC company called about unusual charging. Our card was used only once to purchase AA tickets 10 months b

Barbara & Philippe, Yes I think those airport pictures my be from the 70's. Look at the men wearing sport/suit jackets walking near the plane.Remember when men HAD to wear jackets into the hotel restaurants & casino.I'm thinking now the picture might be from the 60's too.

Vicky, I'll drive and Barbara can be the guide since you'll have to be pushing the car up the hills. Also pushing the car will stop you from being a back seat driver.HeHeHeHe Like I said earlier I've never explored Guana Bay and I'm looking forward to the experience, plus proving I'm right! Less than 8 weeks till SXM.

The new proposed roundabout reminded me of the traffic light at the Mida$$ intersection. Trying to drive threw the intersection back in the DAYS wasn't fun, right.

Which road and the boarder is on an angle. If you remember Anse Marcel wasn't developed until the early 80's. And the Cul de Sac road was still a dirt rd when LaHabitation opened in 86/87.If its picture running along the boarder than why is the ocean included.Strange!

Enzolarosa,I agree in part. I feel it is along the western side facing Anguilla looking north. It sure appears to me that bay is Anse Marcel........Vicky, Believe it or not I've never explored that area. This trip looks like I'll have to check it out. I've seen the area from offshore on trips to St. Barths and when the plane to JFK used to circle left around the island heading north

Do I see a road directly on top of the hills and down the left side. Plus open farm land in the rear towards the top of the other hill.
