Yes its finally open. When we walked the grounds last Feb I spoke with Alain one of the mgrs. He told us the hotel was about 40% full during winter high season.The hotel is totally renovated and the pool and bar were relocated close to the beach.We stayed at LaHabitation for 20 yrs because of the area & the wonderful hotel.Anse Marcel & Cul de Sac area have many very good restaurants wh

I agree great DAYS on SXM before TS overbuilding and being discovered.Looks as though some buildings are in that area but no high rise.I remember we used to walk from the airport to Mullet Bay And they're were no buildings in between just sand.Remenber how dark the island was at night and only a few cars on the roads.We used to drive at night from Little Bay Beach hotel to play blackjack a

IMO, the photo was taken before the 70's maybe from the 40's or 50's I enjoyed the charm of the original airport before the ticket counter addition on the right side was built. The open roof top restaurant section was great. The original plane watching location/bar.Thanks Barbara.

I agree and as stated earlier NEVER LEAVE ANYTHING IN YOUR CAR OR TRUCK of value.Also IMO do not choose a car rental outfit by lowest price only.Rent from a recommended outfit or one you know. The big name outfits in the US are on SXM but privately owned.good luck.

During our Pres wks trip we read in the DH they're was a few attempted breakins in that area.Hopefully the security has been improved.IMO, its best to rent a car for the wk.Never leave any items in your car & trunk while shopping or at the beach.( not even for a few minutes)good luck

Denis, I posted several times before our late night experience on a Pan Am 747 from SXM. About 20 yrs ago on New Years eve our Pan Am flight home was overbooked returning to JFK. Pan Am made us wait while they flew in a 747 so everyone could return home that night. The pilot told us he taking off towards the water because of the weight of a fully loaded 747.I'm glad we did! The Scoo Bee To has great trips plus its located close to Creole Rock in Anse Marcel.They serve great lunch and supply all equiptment. We went on 2 of they're trips. One was to Anguilla and the other was St. Barths.The trips are about 8 hrs and plenty of time for snorkeling.Anse Marcel has a large roped off area away from boats, too.

I agree a huge increase in cars,traffic , and buildings since the storm in 99.I still can't believe how the island has changed since my first visit 30 yrs ago.
