There are places on the island that get their water from a cistern. I wouldn't drink that! I don't imagine any of the reputable resorts and hotels are in that situation, tho!

I agree Barbara. While I know in my mind it is safe, all the tap water I have had on the French side had a "taste" to it. Not so on the Dutch side. Don't know why, but there it is.

Pat - We went last during high season in February. At that time Richard was open for lunch and dinner. I believe they are closed on Wednesday. I think we had lunch about 2. Sorry, I don't know othe real hours!

The absolutely BEST fresh grilled fish I have had was at Gutside.

And based on your other post, your opinion isn't worth much.

Anon - recent reviews have said those initial issues have been fixed. We hope to try it in June.

Hey all- We have stayed at many timeshare trades over the past 20 years or so. All that I have ever stayed at have the inventory sheet. Pat's right. It's for the owners protection. And in the half dozen places I've stayed in SXM, they don't have fitted sheets anywhere. And new sheets? Don't even have them at home! LOL

You can purchase after security. The problem is getting it home. If you have a direct flight to anywhere other than Atlanta I think, you will be fine. If not, you will have to pack it in your checked bag.

We have stayed here and enjoyed it. Incredible views and 10 min walk or 2min drive to Orient.

Mosquito Milk works for me. I'm ok during the day, but as soon as the sun starts to set, especially if i'm on the French side (don't ask me why) my ankles get chewed up by whatever they are. I roll on the MM from knees to toes and they leave me alone. Not sticky and no smell. AND it's under 3 oz so you can bring the leftovers home! We buy it in the grocery stores.

We fly BDL CLT SXM frequently. US Air midweek you can usually find something about $400 - $450 for late April or May. Early April is still considered high heason (or perhaps shoulder). Prices for everything drops after April 15th or so) Cheapest I have ever seen it is $340 plus taxes and fees.

Check out the Random Wind. Very low key - not a party boat - but open bar, lunch and a lovely day with several stops for snorkeling.
