I know this is off topic for SXM but wondering if anyone has done the conversion from chlorine to salt in their pools and whether it was worth the expense. My small dog drinks and eats everything in his path and laps up the chlorine whenever he jumps in the pool. He just went through pancreatitis and so I am looking to avoid any new vet bills this summer. Thanks for any input. And thanks to Ph

Not too many restaurants actually have access to the beach. I know that Tortuga would hold a "Dinner on the Beach" night but every time we were there and they were supposed to have it, they wouldn't because of the weather or the tides... that's why I mentioned the adverse conditions. How about sending them to Anguilla for a dinner on the beach at the famous restaurant (name e

Then maybe Mary's Boon since I did read that they did this sort of thing. Can't guarantee that the food will be good but she'll have the beach thing....

Hi Barbara...as much as I would love to have a dinner on the beach, I have seen the same plans of others go up in smoke, or should I say wind, bugs, or brief rain showers, on the evening of the dinner. They would mostly land up eating either in discomfort (but not admitting this to each other) or indoors instead. It's my suggestion that we find you a restaurant that will surpass a dinner on

Your assumptions are, of course, absolutely correct Philippe and being that the island is so small, having the head Chef out can be a disaster. Usually many restaurants cannot afford a Sous Chef as a back-up so the quality and style of food can go from Excellent to Horrible in a matter of 1 day. I'm so glad that the the poster did value the service and mentioned it in the report. I tend to

I just now received a mini trip report from a very nice person who told me this: We got fresh fish off the fishermen in Marigot Wed. morning and for $24 I got enough mahi mahi for 4 meals. He was talking about the Marigot market on Wednesdays so this is a good source for where you can buy your fresh fish! How coincidental!!! Vicki

We also have a master cook in our party who want to cook himself in the villa ahem....better he cook the food instead.... Regarding a bakery, you could try Le Sucriere in Cole Bay, just past Simpson Bay) but I'm not sure if they actually bake pastries there. Some places are just fronts for the actual bakeries that are not open to the public and deliver their goods in the early mornin

For ambiance, I would choose Flamingo only because, as stated, it's further back and thus more peaceful and quiet with a nicer beach. Flamingo is like a home-style type of atomsphere whereas Royal Palm is more of the high rise style atmosphere. Both are very nice but the fact that you would have a studio at Flamingo vs a 2 bedroom at the Royal Palm makes me think that you would then be sacr

CJ, Anguilla would be a lovely trip to take. It's very peaceful there and their beaches are beautiful. The trip takes about 1/2 hour from the time you get on the ferry in Marigot to crossing over to Anguilla and going thru immigration. You will all need your passports. Then hire a cab to take you to any of the beaches there. Make sure you tell the cab driver to pick you up with enough t

Thanks for the trip report. I assume you had a good time despite the few negative notes. I believe the restaurant is called Bajatzu and I agree that the food is very good there. It probably had just opened after your last trip because it has been there for a few years now. And I assume the French restaurant you ate at was Montmatre (sp). And I as well enjoyed Toppers for the first time this pas

All I can say is that you will see the construction as you drive toward your villa but I highly doubt you will hear anything once there since the construction is far enough away. We also use Kenny's and the car is there at the airport when you arrive. Regarding a personal Chef, here's a few: Chef de France: This one can arrange for a Chef: Fabulous Feasts: St. Ma

I haven't been there for dinner but I just checked out the Radisson Website and there was a link to their high end restaurant "C Le Retsaurant". Here is the link which allows you to see their menu: The website for the Radisson shows a few beautiful photos of the grounds! We will have to take a ride over there to check it out. There is another place to eat as well but no m

Well, that's good to hear! We have never been there and hopefully some day we'll make it over there...We did pass it on our way to Toppers one night so at least I know where it is which is half the battle...

Thanks Denis for the clarification of the Red Piano. Just a note though...if a person is repelled by cigarette smoke, I have heard from others that the Red Piano can get a bit smokey... Being that I smoke, I would probably not notice it so much but I thought I'd just point this out.

Where are you staying on the island? If the Dutch side near the airport, you will have various areas to explore such as Simpson Bay (Pelican area) that has a casino (Hollywood) and piano Bar (Red Piano) plus many restaurants with live music, Maho that has a few nightclubs (Bliss and the new club above the Casino Royale), casino (Casino Royale), piano bar (Sopranos) and plenty of restaurants, and

It depends on when in November you will be traveling. If it's early November, there is a very slight chance that you may encounter a tropical storm or hurricane. It has happened so this must be stated. Otherwise, consider 85 degrees during the day, 79 at night and a few passing rains during the day or night that don't last long. If you are arriving the end of November into December

We were there in December and they had finished fixing Rosies. We watched how the men installed the roof and awning... A few pics Sorry about the size but too lazy to shrink... The funny thing about the bottom photo is that some cruise ship passengers were actually touring Rosie's!!! That's them on the inside and out.
