if you buy booze in town, you have to check it in your bags. If you buy booze at the airport after you pass security, you cna carry it on separately.. that's good for a non stop but if you change planes, then you cannot carry it on the next plane..you have to check it in your luggaage.

well, I guess I have to put in a plug for the Pasangrahan and Philipsburg.:-) The Pasangrahan is a charming hotel right on the beach in Philipsburg.. the area is safe and the boardwalk is right there.. that is lined with beach bars and restaurants and is quite lively during the day and on weekend nights.. during the week Philipsburg is quiet though. In that sense the Maho area is much more

the area is safe. it is an upscale neighborhood. The beach is very pretty but often has a strong undertow which makes it hard to swim in.

what beach do you want to go to? the Philipsburg beach is a short distance away, you can walk there or take a water taxi there.. the beach is lined with beach bars and restaurants. you can stroll the boardwalk or shop on Front Street. for a nice lunch, try Pasagrahan Guesthouse, Greenhouse Restaurnat,or Oulaichi( in the St. maarten arcade) If you want to go to another beach, then you need to

Toni if you are staying at the Westin, I recommend 2 restaurants in the area. 1. Mr. Busby's is a beach bar on the other end of the beach. At night it becomes Daniels by the Sea, an excellent Italian restaurant in a very romantic setting. another one on the other side of the Oyster aAPond itself is Tabba Khady. I recommend both of them and of course there are fabulous reatuarant

There are many marinas on the island where the mega yachts and the private yachts anchor. the one that beachwife mentioned is the biggest, but there are others too. The island is small and there is a large "yacht" community..... she will have fun! If you have Google earth, you cna find St. maarten at 18.1N, 63.1W and take a high resolution tour of the island. it will show all the

The only dermatoloigst is the one who works part time at the hospital. I think his name is dr. Doron.something like that. if you call the hospital at 5431111, and ask for out patient, they will give you an apppointment. He is the only one. There is one who comes up monthly from Curacao but he is here noly one day a month. i am not sure if there are any on the french side... there might be

If you want to take the boat over to St. barth's, the closest location to you is Oyster Pond. There is a ferry, the Voyager, that leaves from Captain Oliver's Marina. that is right near where you will be staying someitmes the trip over is not rough at all. the trip coming back to SXM is usually not a problem.

the island is pretty easy to get around on.. we don't have many side roads. If you get lost, in 5 minutes you can find your way back. don't worry. one spin around the island and you will be oriented X 3.

There also is a turnover tax charged on the profit businesses make. Usually this is incorporated into the price but sometimes you do see it added on.
