This is great! Maybe now folks can find a detour around the bridge work to the airport (SXM) from the Dutch side.

I just returned and because all of the food is imported you will pay more. We found a new store on the island which opened about six months ago and the fruit and Veggies were a whole lot better than Grand Marche and the traffic is not a problem. It is SXM version of Fresh Foods or Fresh Market. It is the cleanest market on the island. Because tourism is down we were able to go to Grand Ca

So happy you had a great vacation! We also just returned and the Island was beautiful. I do feel for the locals because tourism is down dramically over our visit two years ago.

I was there once in late July and the weather was fine. The shopping was great because it was slow and the merchants were begging for sales. Also the prices were down for slow season and some resturant hours were cut. Enjoy

I love the Dawn beach area. I agree you should not cancel. If you feel you need to change your reservation I would suggest the Westin which has a room rate of $200. per night or Oyster Bay resort.

I do not think they would delivery. They do have carry out but remember cash no credit cards. Parking can also be a problem but we just parked along the side of the road and look when you step out.

My daughter is coming with me on vacation and she wants to look for an engagement ring with my future son-in-law. I'm assuming the Dutch side would be better because of the exchange rate. I could be wrong. Where will they get the best bang for their $ ? Who would you all recommend?

Clem you are lucky! Over the last two year travel is no longer a pleasure. The only US carrier that seem to care is Southwest. It seems to me that all American cares about is who pays the most money. If you travel out of the US watch out for American.

to add in saulght to injury they at first would not change my flight because I was flying on awards???I was told they would have to request them and it would take 24 hours. I these hard times you would think they would take care of those who travel them the most! PS my locator information is correct. I feel they were just waiting until too much time would pass and I would be SOL

After reading the posting about AA flights this summer I went in and checked my families flights. They had changed all of the original flights to really bad times. Be aware they never notified me of the changes. Boy am I lucky I checked. I was able to fix most of the connections. Anyone who has a flight on AA should check to see what they have done to you.

I also found the food prices a tab higher but not to worry. The quality is good and the price is not too bad. Also want to mention that tap water is fine and would not buy bottled water if you go out.

I wish Jet Blue would change their fly times to accomodate folks from the Midwest who are stuck with US Air or American. I just got my tickets for next June and American rate was the same as two years ago ($600.00). You are stuck with either connecting through Miami or San Juan. If you are flying out of San Jaun on the connection I would suggest the first morning flight because American

I agree! Explore but understand that most roads are not marked well nor are the beaches so get good directions before you set out to the beach. If you can find a detailed map of the island.
