Norm, I tried roti from Cindy's yesterday and it was delicious. I had the goat roti. She also advertised chicken, beef, shrimp and vegetable roti. I think I'll have to try them all. She makes a good roti!

roti is an Indian flat bread filled usually with curried chicken or goat. it is a popular dish in Trinidad and very tasty. Sucker Garden is a residential area one would pass through on the road from Oyster Pond to Philipsburg

the closest beach is Great Bay which is where your cruise ship docks. You can take a water taxi there. There is the boardwalk with restaurants and bars and there are many water spots on the beach as well as places where you can rent chairs and umbrellas.

Pointe Blanche is a nice residential area. You would need to rent a car to get to shopping etc. I do not know the studio in question though

glad you had a good trip. sounds like fun. the Dutch side is always cheaper than the french side because we have a fixed dollar rate against the guilder. the french side rate is always changing with the euro and the euro is quite a bad rate against the dollar right now. so sorry about the booze.. too bad no one thought to tell you..new TSA rules as of a couple of years ago.

I would guess marigot is more expensive.. and of course anything near a beach or tourist area would be more expensive. I think matthieu is right... maybe check on some other forums.. I don't know of any French side forums though myself. here is a link though to some of the french side newspapers. maybe they have classified ads you could look at.

truthfully, there are no cheap areas. the island is very expensive. If you find an inexpensive apartment, it's usually a dump. maybe only if you live in a more rural area but then transportation can be a problem.

Plans for Ray's memorial service have just been announced by Sharon Harris. Here is her post on TTOL: I spoke with Bob/Craig today & it looks as if we are set to have a memorial for Ray with the spreading of his ashes by Anthony on Simpson Bay beach. We will be doing this on Saturday August 13 at approximately 12:00pm at Karacter's Beach Bar. As soon as I get any additional i

hi Rich I think pat covered most of what you asked. here is the web site for cell phone for the Queen of SXM. I recommend her too. If your tracphone does work, you will pay roami9gn costs and it woudl be quite expensive. There are no AAA affiliates here. Enjoy your trip

they need to keep it open so they can keep the fresh pond levels down when we have excessive rain..otherwise everything floods. the problem is that it used to be a natural channel that ebbed and flowed by itself. they built GB where the natural channel was and just left a much smaller opening. Now it's a mess.
