Hey! Great tips! A few of the things we pack may help for common problems: An "octopus" electrical plug in lets you charge batteries, run laptops etc. from 1 outlet. Most TS units have few wall receptacles. LARGE clothespins are great for keeping towels on beach chairs. Small shockcords available in $$$ stores come in handy when packing and going to the beach. Hey! I believe it's 2 liters per person. Anything over that is subject to 15% duty if you claim it. If you buy it past secrity you can take it on board without a hassle. If you buy it before security it must be part of checked luggage allowance. We bring bubble wrap for purchases at duty free shops in SXM. ( I've been corrected...it's 1 liter..sorry) BIGDEN

Hey Elaine! Philippe is expressing his views on the content of another forum. Personally I can't see any "bashing" happening here. If he is bored with the board then that is his decision. It seems to me that "bashing" of any sort is a bit uncivilized. Gossip, rumour and innuendo do nothing to inform newcomers about the Island. When posts on any forum are comple

Hey! Looks like the FF mile program is changing as of October 1. Just got off the website and can still get some Caribbean destinations for 25K up until Sept. 30; then all hell breaks loose to the tune of 50-60 K. The connections for the 25K really suck but the price can still be right for SJU, SXM, AUA and a few other Carib. destinations. Gotta get to St. Somewhere before the increas

Hey! Don't worry about reservations. There are about 8 places in the PJIA terminal where you can rent. Hold off for a small car for about $120.00 per week in low season. My first choice is PARADISE. Tell them BIGDEN recommended them and you heard you could get a YARUS for $120.00. Many others are good...avoid the U.S. brand names like HERTZ. If you can't get the pric

(Hey!....Don't read if you're offended by humour) A Bronzed Rat A tourist wanders into a back-alley antique shop in San Francisco's Chinatown. Picking through the objects on display, he discovers a detailed, life-sized bronze sculpture of a rat. He's so intrigued by it that he asks the shop owner what it costs. "Twelve dollars for the rat, sir," says the

Hey! Just back from down island and spent 3 hours in Miami yesterday. Chatting with some some senior AIRBUS AA Captains and co-pilots. The large A-300 is getting a bit pricey to run to a lot of Caribbean destinations and you may see smaller planes and fewer flights by the end of the year as AA allegedly are going to park some planes. I would imagine some layoffs are expected as well.

Hey! Reminds me of the incident a couple of years ago when the Marines were training with a group of local residents simulating post hurricane conditions and were overwhelmed by the "mob" of simulated hungry homeless "survivors". I believe they increased their ranks accordingly. BIGDEN
