Barbara, I've said this to you privately but I want to say it publicly, too. I do so enjoy reading your blog. I don't seem to get to follow it lately on a regular basis as much as I used to, (but that's okay because it seems like you don't get to blog nearly as much either,) but when I do, you/it often make me smile and sometimes I laugh out loud; and there are times wh

Many, many years ago, when my family was much younger and the road between Sonesta and Caravanserai at the end of the airport runway was totally undeveloped - no Sunset Beach Bar, Boat Bar or even Royal Islander - we used to walk or drive over and sit on the wall at the very edge of the beach and watch the two or three big boys come in at night. It was pretty awesome to see the planes from ho

It's really not necessary - the US dollar is readily accepted on both sides of the island.

How does he do that every trip? Thanks, Norm, like everyone else, I thoroughly enjoyed your report and the pictures. But again, how do you do all that you do and then remember it all to write about it after the fact? Amazing!! Respectfully, pat

Susan, First of all, things have stayed pretty much the same at The Towers. The good news is the internet is available in the rooms - $12 or $15 a day or you can take your laptop and sit on the bench outside and probably pick it up for free. There are plenty of places a short drive away where you can get free internet - Porto Cupecoy for sure and othern places in the area so I'm told.

Marguerite, I have to agree with the previous posters - there are some times you really need to book ahead and I'm thinking regatta is probably one of them. Not to say you won't get there and find a car if you don't, but from who and at what price would be my concerns. And Lesley Bruce - Kennys Car Rentals - is a great guy to do business with - with all types of corollas - w

Grover, We received an email back in December - might even have been while you were on the island - the old 800# has been replaced with the one I gave in the post above yours. You might want to make note of it for future references since I thought they told me the old number has been done away with. Respectfully, pat

Darlene, The Towers has a new 800# - 1-800-414-6058. This is af of 12/06/2011. Their current email address, as far as I know is still: Towersrsv@yahoo.com

Barbara, I have to tell you - it was like magic, and if - as you suggest - it means good luck for me and my family, I sincerely hope that luck or magic or whatever we might call it, extends to everyone I come into contact with, be that in real time or in cyber-space. Merry Christmas, Everyone. Respectfully, pat

I posted this yesterday on another phorum and don't know why I didn't put it here then but it's never too late to share a happy thought.... While driving home this afternoon on our local interstate, I had the opportunity to witness and be a part of perhaps one of the most beautiful sights I've ever experienced - a double rainbow with some of the most vibrant and alive color

Grover, I hope your time at the Towers was enjoyable - I think you arrived the day we left and you departed the day my daughter arrived. Anyhow, I'm sorry you had issues with your car rental. We, also, rented from this same company many years ago and had the same issues with the question of getting the car at the airport. I had three emails where I asked and he responded that yes, we

Hi, there, mc...... Thank you for telling the real story the way it really is re the golf. BTW, it was so nice meeting you guys that day at Karakter and I truly hope the rest of your vacation (along with your golf game) was as good as it had been to that point. Dan, I feel bad for the people who lost their Ipads but didn't anyone, including but not limited to their rental agent, tell them NOT to leave 'stuff' in their trunks? As many times as we've rented from him and as much as he knows we know the lay of the land, Lesley still gave us the prepared script about lock your cars anywhere with the exception of at the beach and d

Ah, we're weeks 16 and 17 and daughter's 17 and 18 and we each have weeks in November so we may find ourselves checking out as you're checking in as we're there week 48 right ahead of you. As far as the car rentals go, like you've said, the smart thing is to get apples to apples quotes from all concerned and then go with your gut and don't look back. And here

Alex, I rented from AAA once. Thery're a good company for those that choose to use them - no argument there, and they certainly have a following of clientel that are very happy with the services they offer. But unfortunately, the only time we used them they did NOT provide me with the service I had requested and which they repeatedly assured me, via emails which I had saved, they wo

Grover, One last thing regarding Lesley Bruce/Kennys. If I'm not mistaken, the toll free number on his website may be out of service. We generally email him at: bruce@sintmaarten.net and he's always very good about getting back to us. I hear you about waiting for a van pick-

Barbara, I've heard about this requirement also, but personally speaking, I think the traveler will be fine. Of course, there's still plenty of time left if they want to obtain a new one and if they were to note on the application they had immenent travel plans the passport agency will do their best to speed up the process. We last did ours through the local post office and

Welcome to Go Beach, Grover. We, too, are Towers owners and have been since pre-construction. Of course it would be nice if we could go back to those earlier days but given the history of time-sharing on St. Maarten, we are still pleased with The Towers and offer no regrets about being there. Regarding your question regarding great LOCAL car rental agencies I would agree most heartily wi

KD, We happen to own an "09" unit, a little higher up, but the view is the same and we love it. From the larger balcony off the livingroom you look towards the Mullet Pond inlet directly in front of you along with the few boats that seem to be permanently moored there and beyond that your main view is of Point Piroutte and the golf course including Mona Island although if you lo

Rich, Years ago the car rental agency we use offered The Club and then later an auto transmission lock, both of which kept the car from going anywhere, but sadly, it didn't prevent B&Es of the glove compartment and the trunk and it didn't prevent batteries and spare tires from 'disappearing' so it really is a smart move to keep nothing in your car in the first place and

Rich, Don't know how much help this will be but here goes.... Re: AE TCs, we bring them ALL the time and I still consider it to be the safest way to transport cash without the concerns of carrying green cash, and we've only had one problem in all our forty years. We ate at Maximo's at Porto Cupecoy last April and they would NOT accept them. But a few words to the wise - tra

Kathy, To stay there or not is certainly your choice and chances are they (RCI) would easily be able to move you to a different propery depending on the time of year you're going. We love The Towers - and wouldn't dream of trading our weeks there and in fact we keep looking for more weeks for sale that would work for us. But I would suggest it's not a destination for a dema

Carolyn, I would suggest you google the card and you will find a wealth of info but from personal experience here's what I know: We purchased our card last April through Sharon, Queen of SXM along with our cell phone rental, for a cost of $20 for the card. It was delivered to us along with our phone and rental car by Lesley Bruce and IMO, it was more than worth the money. The card

Okay, I may be way off base with this but I'd guess pre-1973 but only because I don't remember the buildings being yellow all the years we were there. But sadly, that doesn't mean much bercause I often have a hard time remembering what we had for dinner last night. November, 1973 was the first year we stayed at Mullet.
