Denis - Those are some great memories. I know what that place meant to you. But, hey, the beach will still be there. The planes will still be there. Some of the same people will still be there as well. I hope you will be too. If I see you on my walks I'll be sure to bring you a cold drink!

thanks for the pics, Gert. Gee, am I the only one that actually likes the simplistic look it has now? I'm sorry but they had a wedding tent type thing over the deck in March with flat screen t.v's etc . I couldn't figure out the purpose of that for the life of me. Wow, looks like they took away almost everything - every ledge, bench, table, awning, umbrella, etc - that t

What - you don't remember sitting next to me on the plane? Huh, something makes me think I would remember you on my plane! Yep, you are right B, I miss typed. I was on the first plane after Marilyn (yes, 10 days after Lenny). We were supposed to be on the first available flight in for passengers (other than just you residents) but AA kept calling each day and saying, "not yet&qu

No, I wasn't there when it hit. (and you know that how?????,,,,, ) I was scheduled on the first commercial flight allowed in WITH passengers (only homeowners, business owners or residents with offical documents at the gate were allowed on the plane. I think there were only about 20 people or so on that flight) until our flight was canceled the night before b/c of Hurricane Marilyn. We we

I remember seeing this video before. It really was a horrible time. And, it's SO hard to describe the destruction to people who didn't see it. It was really unbelievable and horrific. Pictures don't even come close to doing it justice. The sounds (the eery quiet) and the smells (rotting seaweed and the dampness in the air) add to the visual perspective for sure. Some of m

The villa is located about mid-bay. Usually not much of a beach right in front... but no worries with the pool there. You can enter the ocean for swimming just off to the left of the pool or walk down past small white wall down the beach to your right where you can also enter the water. You have a nice view of the sunset from here and will also be able to see some planes land from the far

Philippe is right, you CAN walk to Simpson Bay by cutting through the Beacon Hill area and taking the steps down to Simpson Bay beach. However, two things you may want to consider. There was some construction in that area of the steps in Beacon Hill and I am not quite sure you could still access them. Secondly, there are quite a few dogs at the beginning of Simpson Bay beach that could cause y

No,you won't have to drive over to Marigot. If you are up early before the morning rush hour traffic you can get to Simpson Bay in 5-7 minutes no problem. There are several boulangeries in the area. However, with your interest in fresh baked goodies, wine, cheese, etc., you may enjoy a morning in Marigot once in awhile for your fresh baguettes, croissants, etc just to experience more of

Beacon Hill is NOT out of the way by any means. IMO opinion it's a great location! (I may be a bit biased.... LOL) It's a nice quiet residential area. You will be lucky if you even seen anybody other than beach dogs on the beach while you are there. And, while nice and quiet, you are VERY close to the hopping Maho and Simpson Bay areas. As Denis said you are 5 minutes (and that

Ah, yes, Caravanserai was NO CHILDREN. For many years my sister and I had to stay home when my parents went there for Sunday brunch or dinner/drinks. Funny, though, I looked older so I could get into the casinos at age 14.... but still couldn't get into the Caravanserai!

Ah, yes, Pleas for help board... indeed it was. I can't tell you how big of a help it was for those of us with HUGE concerns in SXM as Lenny approached and landed. As opposed to Luis when we struggled for days to get any valid info, this board's coconut telegraph gave us detailed accurate information from friends, families, relatives, neighbors, etc on what was happening and had happe

Gee, this couldn't possbily be Bob1P? Yes, Bob, actually, that is one of my fondest memories of old SXM - driving to Pburg a few nights during our trip to call the family back home. How hilarious was that to wait in line and have one of the lady operators connect you through. I was always waiting for Lily Tomlin's Ernestine to be there one night! And, here we all are today with

Hidden Forest Café at Loterie Farm. Take a drive over during the daytime so you are more comfortable with the drive at night (it's a little hairy). Make a reservation for dinner. It's a beautiful setting and the food is fabulous! Gorgeous tapas/bar area as you walk in, restaurant is in the back - overlooking the forest.
