That's the same camera that I own, Philippe. You'll be very happy with it. I'm buying some new lenses from Boolchands when I arrive and I'm looking forward to lots of great shots on SXM.

Thanks for the info, Denis & Pat... BTW, it's BMI, not BML. It looks like a lower-case "L" bit it's really an upper-case "i". Gets people all the time.

No, I don't mean nudity. What's an acceptable standard of dress in restaurants on SXM? On St John, it is very difficult to be underdressed -- shorts and t-shirt is acceptable everywhere. How about St Martin/St Maarten?

One of the reasons my friends like having me around is that I'm a mosquito magnet. As long as I'm there, no one else gets bitten. So... what's the mozzie situation on SXM? Should I be showering in DEET? As always, thanks in advance for any advice.

Our previous Caribbean trips have been to St John, USVI. There, we usually try to do a different beach per day with a couple of favourites that we always return to. What are we likely to find on SXM? Would we probably follow the same pattern or are we likely to find one that will meet all our needs and we'd just stay there? On St John, you miss a lot but not exploring as many beaches as p

Phillipe, merci beaucoup pour l'information. My French is very rusty but I'm practicing. This trip is going to bring back memories of camping trips in France, with a subtle difference.

John, I do have Google Earth. That would be great. Thank you! (Maybe I might be able to spot my villa!)

The only thing is that I'm likely to take my camera on the walk and that 40 minutes might turn into 2 hours! Oh, well, I'll risk it.

Thanks or all the info, folks. One more question: how long might it take to walk from the east end of Burgueax to Simpson Bay?

Thanks, Andrea. It looks like my villa is at the eastern end of Burgeaux Bay. Can I walk to Simpson Bay? How long might that take?

Wondering if there's anywhere where I can pick up fresh croissants and pain raisin for breakfast while the sleepyheads in my party are still snoring. Would I have to drive up to Maginot to find this?

My wife and I are renting a shore-front villa on Beacon Hill for two weeks with two friends and their two teenage kids. The villa is right n the beach at Burgeaux Bay. I get the feeling that it might be a bit out of the way vis-a-vis St Martin highlights. Would that be correct? We'll be renting a car to hit all the usual spots and we'll also want to take an excursion or two during that
