Greetings;

We are coming back to St. Martin after 3 years and wondering about our cell phones. Last time, due to a family emergency we had over $900 in phone calls. I would really appreciate any information anyone can give me on phone service and what we can do. Thank you!

Kathy
Theres really a better way than using your phones from home even if you have international roaming and thats to rent a phone from Sharon Queen of St. Martin. It's about $45. for to weeks with a limited amount of calls in that amount and thats more or less the price. You get your number ahead of your trip so your friends can have it when you leave to call you in emergency and you can have more time added remotely by just calling them.

Another vote for Sharon.(www.queenofsxm.com). The cost is $20 for the first week plus time in increments of $5 (16 minutes). Calls to the US cost $.32 per minute. Incoming calls are free. I also have a www.sendglobal.com account, so my son and daughter can call us for about $.10 per minute. I just registered their home phones on my account. Verizon rates are about $1.99 per minute and that adds up quickly! Sharon is great to work with. Just got my phone number for next week!

Kathy,

I second, third or fourth everything the previous posters have already said about Sharon. For years I was one of those people who didn't want to be bothered with a cellphone but I found out just how useful it was to have one when we experienced car issues at one of the local beaches. Having it was invaluable and Sharon absolutely is great to work with.

And one more thought - while I don't know who you rent your car from - I do know she has a special arrangement with Lesley Bruce of Kennys Car Rentals - (bruce@sintmaarten.net) - whereby he can have your cell phone along with your rental car when he meets you at the airport at no additional cost to you. It's a totally winning combination but whether you use him or not, renting the cell phone is really a very good and smart thing to do.

Respectfully,

pat

Slight thread drift: do you folks tip Sharon for rental of her phone? I didn't this last year and am now wondering if I should have. I guess I viewed it as a product, although there certainly is service involved. What have you folks done?

Honestly never thought of tipping in this instance. Was I a bad girl?

I DON'T THINK a tip to the owner of the buzness is necesary. But if you let one of the car companies drivers deliver the phone to you that is a service that might desserve a tip.

Hi Everyone,

I just got a call from my husband in NY who was reading this thread & he said I needed to go on & let you guys know that we do not expect any tips for our service. Just having happy customers who get what they pay for & spread the word about us is enough for us. I personally would never take a tip from a customer since I also believe that an owner should not take tips. I do know that every once in awhile a customer gives one of the ladies a small tip which they do take & really appreciate, however it is never anything they expect & we try to give every customer the best service possible.

We have some of the best customers in the world & we hope you all keep returning to us. All of the nice things you say about us really makes me proud of my business & of my staff.

Warmest regards,
Sharon
