How's the Traffic lately

Heard alot about traffic becoming a problem on St.Martin. What can we expect? Staying on the French Side; but going to pick up friends at the airport after we arrive. What amount of time should we give ourselves to get there?

Depends on the time and the day. If you want to make it hassle free, go thru the lowlands to get to the airport. No traffic.

To quote Elaine:

"It's still happening - in broad daylight. It's not exaggerated. A month or two ago a woman and her friend were pulling up to the gate at their villa and she had forgotten the key or whatever to the gate. While sitting there calling her husband inside on the cell, a car pulled up behind, blocking them in. Two thugs got out, beat both women and stole their purses and cells etc and drove off before the husband got to the gate. Mid afternoon. So yes it does happen - even in the high rent district."

Excerpts: "In Broad Daylight" "Mid afternoon"

Apparently, IT IS during the day TOO.

Just returned from a great week on the island,no traffic problems. New airport road and Cole Bay round about seems to be helping with everyday traffic but you still need to be cognizant of Simpsom Lagoon Bridge opening times and plan accordingly.
