Can someone let us know just how badly RI was damaged. We were due to arrive there this Saturday the 25th for two weeks and are totally devistated that they called us to cancel our stay.

Very badly, at least to the beach, the retaining wall, the entire pool area, and most probably every unit on the pool level. They need to make sure that the building is structurally safe before anything is done to restore it to it's beauty. Hopefully you were able to find another place to stay in the meantime. That should be most important right now unless, of course, you chose to cancel your trip.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately we had to cancel the trip, we weren't able to find any place to stay on such short notice. Hopefully we will be back in a couple of months. Absolutely love it there.

I know the Pelican had some rooms available in Interval for the next couple of weeks (just deposited one myself for 11/2-9)

what happens, does the RI try to contact other timeshares for availability? Or do you just get a call, sorry, you need to cancel? Because I can't believe Sapphire, Towers, Pelican, Royal Palm, Pelican and Flamingo are completely sold out?? You would think they would find rooms just pay the fee to keep the guests coming??

RI contacts the owners and tells them that the resort is closed. They found places for those that were there at the time but apart from that, it is not their responsibility to relocate. I don't know of any timeshare that would do that unless the people were there at the time.

Everyone is scrambling or cancelling but there are still rooms left. It just depends on what you are willing to pay or if you are willing to stay on the French side as well.

I know with us, they called and said sorry we're closed until further notice, we tried several other places, but since we were booked for two weeks no one could help us. We had to cancel our plane reservations and are trying to book something for January, I still can't believe we are not getting on a plane tomorrow!! angry smiley

So VERY sorry to hear this. I know the anticipation up to this point and it really is such a HUGE HUGE HUGE letdown. I know this is not something that will help right now but after these next 2 weeks are up, just think that you will have been back and not seeing another trip for another year when in fact.... you will be going away hopefully in January.
