Well... I wasn't here yet, but I do remember seing some pics of that time. It was so quaint and "caribbean" at that time...The matter of fact is that I have few of them stored on my computer but don't know to whom they belong too (like I told you one time...) I just picked them up around the web along the years. Some are extremelly beautiful and interesting.... Should I share some here with out insulting or offending the author in case he/she is a gobeach member... Actually maybe the contest "who is the author of this beautifull pic?" eye rolling smileysmoking smiley

Kind Regards,
Philippe

I am trying to figurate when your post card was taken to compare with the photos posted... It must be in the 70's (or even maybe before..) because they even didn't started to fill up "doigt de gant". Incredible...
According to the cars in the photos, I think they are from the mid to late 80's.
But your post card is just so amazing! I just wished I had come earlier to be lucky to see Marigot that way, instead of now... And they are already thinking about filling up more ocean to create more land to extend the "waterfront" to do some sort of Mall and increase the new Marina.... confused smiley
HELP !!!! We will sink !....sad smiley

Kind Regards,
Philippe

neat pics.
I think I have the first one but not the second one.
It is nice to give credit if you know who to give crfedit to, but otherwise , if it's on the internet, it's free to all.
did you get my email?

Beautiful, Philippe! Thank you for sharing. La Vie en Rose is my favorite restaurant on St. Martin, and I truly wish I had been able to eat there when it was a true waterfront restaurant!

ummm actually I think it is a little bit later (according to the cars) and also because if you look closely the lenght of the serie of little bridge is smaller than on the post card (seven or more little bridges in your post card and only 4 in the photos)... they already filled up at 45 degres in angle from the middle of the dock toward where is now the Oiseau Rare restaurant. same as the first picture... call me Inspecteur Clouseau LOL !!! >grinning smiley<hot smiley

Philippe

Barbara, Thanks for posting the pictures from the DAYS.I remember during the late 70's & early 80's many of the buildings were shuttered and appeared empty for years. Many business's were open by the harbor but not on the main entrance rd.We always parked where the cars are in your photo when we were in Marigot.

For some reason I always remember the little white
t shirt shack in front of the Bar de la Mer. Always has a few T shirts for sale and always looked like the road should go thru there, which did later.

Bar de la Mer wasn't built until the late 80's & that photo is well before that.Pizza Hot isn't shown and it was in business there before the bar.I don't think there was much for tourists to buy in those DAYS. I find it strange how traffic seemed to move faster before the Harbor rd was built.I'm searching for the MINI Club building but it appears to be further down on the right.

Yes the Mini Club is further down.... On both picture (the post card and the first photo) the last building visible is the one where the Poisson d'Or was located (now Serafina)

Philippe
