Off-Topic...Spain

Just wanted to share with my friend Philippe that I am in Oviedo,Spain right now, and the food leaves much to be desired! I am definitely spoiled by St. Martin's wonderful cuisine! The food here is very heavy and the restaurants don't even open until 9 PM! I guess that's because the sun doesn't set until 10:30 or so. Still, we are having a wonderful time.

I am jealous..Spain? I love Spain.
I know they eat late over there though.
It would definitely be past my bed time. LOL

Hi Barbara,

We are in the North of Spain, where the Moroccan influence is not so prevalent. The cuisine here is much more meat oriented..sausages, stews and such, because the weather is generally cooler and rainy. We did have paella the other day, but it wasn't anything special. I might have better luck if my Spanish was better..I generally have no idea what I'm ordering!! We have learned to eat our main meal around 3 or so, and then just have wine and tapas for dinner, as the bars are all open around 7 or so. My husband is working the rest of this week, so I'm on my own to explore during the day.

No, not even close. We are in Oviedo, the capital of Asturias, which is near the Northern coast on the Bay of Biscayne, while Barcelona is on the Mediterranean. I had never been to either, but expected a more Mediterranean feel than I'm getting here. Still, it's absolutely beautiful countryside, and the city is phenomonal. Being American, the age of the architecture simply amazes me, as I'm sure you can identify with.

guess I better get out my map. LOL
Well, enjoy yourself.
I love Europe for how old it is. It makes you relaize what an advanced civilization there was there long before anyone ever dreamed of the USA.
