Should I learn a few words in Dutch?

Thank you to all who replied to my first thread. I've started a notepad of 'must do's' and beach bars to hit; I think we're going to need more than a week!

As we're probably going to spend most of our time on our side of the island, is it wise/necessary/courteous/foolish to learn a few key phrases in Dutch? As far as I've read, English is widely spoken thoughout. I'm thinking of the phrases I use most on vacation; please, thank you, can I have another beer, where is the ladies room? I can get by with all of these in French (thanks 8th grade teacher).

We're more of a beach bar, ribs & beer group than fine French dining. I have cheked out some menus on-line, the prices do not seem particularly hideous (but then again I'm in CT); do you find the price info online to be fairly accurate on island?

Again, many thanks to you all for your friendly information. I'm sure I'll have many more questions in the next few weeks.

All the best, Susan

English is widely spoken... no need to learn Dutch.
on the French side, you will hear more French spoken, but again English is widely spoken.

Beach bar, ribs etc are the way to go. I used to love the burgers at Bucanneer but haven't been there in a year. Ribs definetly from Lido's. Rosie's at Mullet Bay are good too.
Have fun,
Cheers
