Does anyone know of a rental car agency that will pick
people up at the crusie ship. There are six of us and we need a car for one day.

Agrees with Bob. We have been using Unity for the last 5 years and are treated like royalty. Mike or Chollo will have someone waiting at the airport for you and you are only a credit card swipe away from driving off.

We used Unity many times including two weeks ago.
They not only meet you, but their cars are new and reliable. Toyota Corollas that are immaculate.

I have been trying to get Michael from Unity Car rental. Have rented from them for years and somehow lost the 800 number and cannot get on the website. It keeps coming up as Thrifty car rental. They are wonderful and very friendly.
Any help would be appreciated

Doesn't anybody read any more? People the OP asked about a car at the cruise ship for six people not a car at the airport.
Mr Bobcat your post was good until your last three words. Were they necessary? Many here are happy to give straight up answers without all the mumbo jumbo that some of the other cites throw in along the way. Sure there are some trolls here just like every other website but most people try to be helpful.
Since Unity is the most recommended does anyone know if he picks up at the cruise ships and has vans? Or the name of a rental company that does?

To the original post there will be lots of cars available to hire at the cruise ship docks but I don't know about vans which is what you'll probly end up with. Either that or two of the slowrollas.

FYI - We took a cruise in 2005 and Michael met us at the dock with a car. We rented for the one day. It was pretty strange just spending the day and then going back to the ship.

Best Deal Car Rental,

Met me at the dock as soon as I got off my ship,

No problems with them at all.

Ros, there are many who go and dont rent but there also happy to just stay at their resort and not get about the island. SXM is an easy island to drive on and the best beaches are not found at the resorts imo. Its fun to to enjoy the different restraunts and shopping areas and having a car lets you do this at your convenience. Cars are cheaper to rent than using taxis in some cases and buses are not good for getting all over the island but it really all comes down to whatever works for you. Where are you staying cause that might be a deciding facter one way or the other. In Maho Sonesta area or Orient Beach you could probly get away without one or in Front St. but most other areas I'm thinking you would be lost without one. And they are really cheap compared to a lot of other destinations.

I would strongly suggest a rental car. There is so much to see and do. So many nice beaches, great restaurants, casinos and sights to see. Don't miss out, get out there and take in the island flavor.
