Towers at Mullet Bay

My wife and I intend to enjoy her 40th B-day in St. Maarten, January 5th-19th.

We are booked at "Towers at Mullet Bay". I can't find any reviews on this resort.

Does anyone have any feedback for us?

Mullet Bay originally took the brunt of the worst hurricane to hit the island back in 1995. There is a gradually recovering Golf Course there and still some former resort buildings nearby that as of last January were still not restored. The Towers are around the corner from the Maho Strip, about 5-6 minutes tops from the Airport. While I do not have any specific knowledge about them, I haven't heard anything negative either. My wife and I have a timeshare at the Divi Resort in Phillipsburg. One thing I can recommend you do is get a car if you haven't already. You really need one to really see the island properly, you can drive it around the only highway in about an hour or so. If you have any specific questions, about the island, send me a note. We have been going there each January (we arrive on the 19th) for about 6 years, so we are pretty familiar with it.

Hello Roger and Yvonne

My wife and I are TS owner at the Towers since 1988. Have never missed going except the year of the hurricane. Great place, top notch accommodations. Very safe and secure. If you have a studio they are very spacious with everything you need. Nice pool although we seldom use it, the beaches are to beautiful. We spend our first week on the french side from the 3rd till the 12th and then will also be at the towers from the 12th to the 19th. You definately will need to rent a car. Close to casinos, for beaches close by do not miss driving up to Cupecoy if you do not mind the CO and Bai Rouge, both within 10 minutes. Beautiful beaches. Any other questions feel free to drop me a line.

I am a charter owner of the Towers at Mullet Bay, and as such, I feel pretty well qualified to tell you, you are in for a real treat. The Towers is a high-rise property that sits on the edge of what was once Mullet Bay Resort but it is a totally seperate property. The units are large and very well-maintained and equipped with all the amenities you could possibly need. There are TV's in each bedroom and balconies overlooking whatever view you are booked in to. If you are lucky enough to be in one of the penthouse units you are really in for a treat - they are WONDERFUL!!! I envy you as I have weeks to wait before it's MY TURN.......! The pool is gorgeous and it is a short walk but a better ride to Mullet Bay Beach which is quite lovely as well. Do rent a car, though, because without one you really are somewhat isolated and there is just too much to see and do to only stay at the resort. Do yourself a favor, if you are an island first-timer, and go to the orientation on Monday morning. They will give you a lot of helpful info re the island. And they can also help you with dining suggestions. Contrary to what seems to be popular opinion, there is wonderful dining all over the island - not only in Grand Case so experience as much as you can and you won't be disappointed.

Considering proximity to Marigot (10 minutes), Crand Case (20 minutes), Philipsgurgh (15 minutes) nightlife & casino's (2 minutes), Cupecoy (2 minutes), Orient (25 minutes), condition of the resort and rooms (in the top 5), security and grounds, I think you made an excellent choice that will not disapoint you in any way.

Be sure to get a car.

Hi, Bob,

I can't believe what you've written here under a thread pertaining to The Towers at Mullet Bay on the DUTCH side of the island!!:

Are you actually saying you'd be interested in purchasing a week of timeshare at The Towers on the DUTCH side of the island? eye popping smileyeye popping smileyeye popping smiley

As Kim alluded to earlier, we just picked up an incredible deal at The Towers for week 48 in a great unit on E-bay - so thanks to her help, it looks like we may be spending the post-Thanksgiving week (week 48- which I'm thinking is what you're speaking of) on SXM at The Towers more and more, just not in 08 and perhaps 09 due to other plans and commitments.

You may want to keep a serious eye on the E-bay deals - this one was pretty unbelievable (if you're really interested, you might want to send me a private message here, and I'll tell you exactly how unbelievable it really was!! but I don't want to get other Towers owners upset either!!) and I'm ever so grateful to her for pointing it out to us.

Respectfully,

pat

I would love to hear how things are going at The Towers from anyone who has visited recently...

Due to life events, I haven't been able to go in 6 years, but am definitely going this year on 10/25 ...

Reading posts here, it sounds as if crime is up, and that's scary ...

And I would like to thank people who posted about Lesley Bruce and car rentals! I've already made a reservation for the car, and guess I should ask for a "beater"! lol... "no hubcaps and a few dings please?"

Hi,
We just exchanged our week in Florida to stay at the Towers in 3 weeks. How long does it take to get to the Towers from the airport? And is there a store nearby for grocery shopping for the week? We are traveling with two 2 year olds, any tips about our stay would be greatly appreciated!!
Thank you!
April

April,

The trip from the airport to The Towers is less than ten minutes and that's allowing for traffic.

About midway between the airport and the resort, you will pass through the Maho shopping/hotel area and there's a small grocery store there. It's directly across from the Maho Sonesta Beach Hotel and adjacent to the Maho LaTerrasse timeshare property. There are a half dozen parking spots out front but there's a whole parking garage with a side entrance to the grocery just before you get there. They carry everything you need to get you through a week and while the prices are minimally higher than LeGrand Marche or some of the other major grocery stores, for the convenience factor it's worth paying the price. They carry all the staples - bread, deli items, dairy, fruit juices, and all nature of drinks - alcoholic and non - cereals, etc.

Also, you can order fresh pastries or baguettes at the front desk every day and pick them up in the morning after 7:30 - I think they're all $1.25 each including the baguettes. These make great sandwiches for the beach and some mornings they're still warm. Yummy!!

A few things you need to know at The Towers:

You have to rent a car, particularly with two children.
There are NO restaurants on the premises so you will appreciate the full kitchen.

If you drive to the beach at Mullet or any of the other beachers for that matter, check with your car rental company about whether you should lock your car while there or not and never leave anything in the rental car anywhere - not even locked out of sight in the trunk or in the glovebox. If you do, you may find it missing down the road.

Should you have anymore questions please feel free to ask away here.

Respectfully,

pat
