On the beach while planes are landing?

OK, so we've seen the videos on youtube about the little beach at the end of the runway and the jetwash and landing blowback; has anyone here actually done this? And if so, why? And was it cool, or crazy?

Thank you!

Many people have been injured, yes. It blew the windows out of an ambulance driving bylast year. Just think what it can do to a person.

But there are idiots everywhere.

Suzanne3367,
That's an incredibly stupid statement that you just made. It is unbelievably dangerous to hang on the the fence and get hit by the back wash and power of the thrusters.
Some people............

Whoa - I'm not saying hanging on the fence or standing on the road. I'm talking about being on the beach, or at either of the bars having the planes go over head!

Kim - Irina wasn't responding to you. Look closely at her post.

But honestly - even on the beach you can get hurt by the sand or flying coolers! LOL

Stick to the bars!

irina. calling stupid is something else. i am talking about watching from the sunset beach bar which we have done many times. if you are so "stupid " to hang on the fence you can loose an eye...but the bars are safe silly girl

SSBB and Driftwood are safe---- even being on the beach during a landing is relatively safe-- but standing behind the jet blast for a take off-- patently dumb-- unless you are a real risk taker and don;t care of the "blast" is more benefical to your life than an eye-----or two---- last year they put a second fence right next to the road-- to prevent people from going to the fence closest to the runway---not much difference- space wise--maybe a few feet-- -EXCEPT if you hang off the new fence-with your feet over the road- you could get you legs cut off by a truck driving through the roadway that doesn;t care if his truck gets sandblasted----chbpod

The funniest thing was about 5 years ago my mother-in-law was taking a leisurely walk to SSBB along the water from the Royal Islander and being new to the island did not know about the backlash - we saw her coming and starting to yell at her to hurry but she didnt hear us and her and her hat got blown into the water-she was not hurt (she had been walking along the water) but it was pretty funny
