We will be arriving July 07 for (2) weeks. Weather will be in the mid to upper 80's. Sweater weather for us Arizonans. :-) Traffice will be lighter, beaches will be wide open with plenty of parking and chairs. Restaurants will not require reservations and will be glad to see you. Most everything is still open in July. You'll love it.

Our favorite casinos are the Princess, the Atlantis and the Casino Royale. I have heard they have opened a new casino at the Westin Dawn Beach.

Hey Rick - The gate goes into the French Military Installation where Happy Bay is. They are normally closed. Just turn left and continue driving. You can drive right up to the beach. Thanks SStagnaro appreciate the compliment.

There are (2) ways to get to Friar's Bay by car. - Coming from Marigot head North - when you go over the big hill turn Left immediately at the bottom. There is a small sign there. - Coming from Grand Case turn Right just after the tennis courts. Go back to where the gate is and turn Left - follow the road. - DO NOT go to Happy Bay by car - sometimes the gates are open, but will surel

On My first visit to St. Maarten I drove up and down almost every single road on the island. That's how I found Friers Bay. Now that I know my way around there are several things I would suggest. - Shopping in Phillipsberg and Marigot (cloudy days are shoppimg days) - Sunset Beach Bar to watch the Airbus take off - Buchaneer Beach Bar for lunch & BBC's - Turtle Pier for brea

The beach in front of Belair is very nice. It is an easy walk down to Divi where you can rent wet bikes and the sort.

The Friar's Bay Cafe is the name. It is on the Right side of the beach (facing the ocean). The menu is surprisingly extensive and the food is very very good. Free chairs and umbrellas if you eat there. There are some pics on our site.

I don't understaand how you can run such a cash intensive business as a bar for out of the country. Seems to me he's going to have to sell. IMHO

Try Mary's Boon or the Flamingo Resort. Both are very nice and right on the Ocean.

We ate at Mario's the beginning of this month (Aug) and were very disapponted. For years it has been my favorite and is often closed in the Summer when we go. It is expensive but has always been worth it. Not this time - I got the impression they have a new chef. We tried the Moulon Fue (spelling?) restaurant behind Cheri's in Maho and were very impressed - great food and great service.

Snorkeling is what we do everyday while in St. Maarten. You'll want to rent a car a see the island anyway. We always use Michael for our rental car. . While out and about try these snorkel spots: Friars Bay – this is always our first snorkel, water is calm and smooth. There is usually a wide variety of fish. You can snorkel to the right all the way to Happy Bay. Bay Rouge – Our favorit

In SXM purchase the liability insurance. 2) You should rent the car with a credit card that affords you the collision coverage. Most contracts will be similar but you should consult your own credit card company. 3) YOU MUST purchase the liability protection offered by the rental agency there is no other source. Personal injury can be a far greater expense than a vehicle's cost. ****

Try the Maho, La Plage or La Terrace. Great area with Casino, night Clubs, Sunset Beach Bar and restaurants. Beach is average, but you'll want to rent a car anyway.

ANON, You are exactly correct. I would not book through this web site. Use it to reference the local companies and then book direct.

Have you tried any of the local companies? I have recieved fantastic service. You will be met with a sign with your name and taken to the off site location to get your car. Most of the companies will already have the paper work done - just sign and drive. We also were fed up with Avis & Budget on the island and were pleasantly surprised when we tried Michael at Unity for our rental car. But

Where is the Get Wet Beach Bar? I am not familiar with that establishment. You might want to try SunSet Beach Bar for bands. If you want to get wet at the Beach Bar, Buccaneer Beach Bar is fantastic for that. There is a hurricane tracker on our personal site below. Have Fun !!

Unity will meet you at the airport and take you to your car. Very short drive. The reverse when you take the car back. You will need to get the liability insurance. Most credit cards will handle the rest. BUT - it always pays to check!!
