For many years Le Pirate was one of the best Sunday Lunches on the island....1969 to the late 70's/early 80's ......the food was outstanding. It was also a real neat boutique hotel.

Do you see any pot holes in the road? All the "paved" roads back then were in that near perfect condition. Those were THE DAYS.

At the end of the day we knew where to find Pa for the ride back home....yes, at 5:00pm it all happened at the Sea View Hotel bar. Ther

All very valid points. But let's be honest, the over development with no regard towards the very points you make, let alone the serious ecological ramifications, is way beyond the "point of return". The island is overbuilt and yet the building continues, unabated. That's called progress??!!!

What an amazing picture! I remember helping to unload the DC3 cargo planes at the old airport. The lagoon was pristine and teaming with fish. This picture predates Mullet Bay. Hard to tell, but it looks like Mr. Parker may have just gotten started on the Concord Hotel (Maho Beach). I would say this was somewhere between 1967 and 1969. The old timers will remember the cockfights off to the right (
