Bruce, Thanks for the tip. Next time I go to Boston I'll scout around. You're right about an acquired taste. Reminds me in a way to my first taste of Moxie when I moved to NE from the SW. Moxie was sold to me as a substitute for my beloved Dr Pepper. haha Agree with the only way to sip Ma Dou Dou is straight from the bottle and since it is already flavored, no need to ruin it

Kimbere, Ting is a carbonated beverage popular in the Caribbean. It is flavored with St. Kitt's or Jamaican grapefruit juice and is both tart and sweet. Ting comes in a green glass bottle, or a green and yellow can. It is available all over the island. I don't think the little store at the Divi carries it though. I get mine at le Grande Marche or Cost U Less by the case and bring

Kimbere, You're in luck for a good view as you are at the Divi. You could start off by standing at the rock wall facing P'burg and the marina and watch for the 2 yachts to come into view and usually head to the open waters. Then, you can scurry up the steep hill to the fort ruins on the east end of the Divi and get a bird's eye view of the race regardless of where they go.

Kimbere, I have a 1 BR ts and there has always been a coffee maker in it. When we used to drink it, we always took some filters and our special blend just to be ready from the gitgo. Not that I would recommend it to a stranger, but a Dutch coffee on vacation isn't so bad. Enjoy your stay. DrD

Hi, re: Gerald and Gov and Zebulon Just an observation and I don't have a "dog in this fight." My last posts in June of this year (29 and 30) about the Divi and Antoines with a name of drdoug came up with a .....vt,comcast.net listing. Whereas over a year ago as Dr Doug I was showed as ..... nh.comcast.net. I'm in the same location and still with Comcast. Plus, I&

Divi has 3 bars. There are happy hours daily at two of them, however it is just one hour at one bar then shifts to the other bar for another hour. I'm sure the SeaBreeze is first. You might discover another one, as your balcony overlooking the sunset if you are on the little bay side. Nothing beats a glass of chilled crisp white wine, or a rum and Ting as you see the sunset and green fl

Hi Barbara1, I agree that Antoines is a very good restaurant near the Divi. The one that popped up from your link is very historic and the time I went there seemed a bit pricy and maybe living off the old days reputation. It was a tad bit closer going to our French city in the states rather than P-burg. Maybe this one for the Divi folks. www.antoinerestaurant.com Dr Doug

Hi Barbara, That would be p. 14 in the January 2010 issue. I knew what it was as soon as I saw it without reading the caption.

TOM2, That was kinda mean to a young kid. Zack is actually 10.75 yeas old. I've (grampy) been going to SXM for over 25 years years and sharing my experiences with him for the past 6 or so years. He has helped me over the past 4 years put PowerPoints together for my classes on tourism and SXM that I teach in the states. His sister went to SXM a year ago and shared her experiences with

Hi guys, I’m Zack and my grampy is going to take me to SXM when I’m 12. I’m 10 now. He says I’m his favorite grandson, but ha ha I’m his only one. He goes to SXM every year but doesn’t know the answer to my very important question. So I said I’d write a note and maybe he could post it. Will I be able to rent and drive a 4 wheeler off road and a jet ski in Great Bay and Lit

n, I'm sure those things probably did happen once to different guests. Been going there in TS unit since early 80's. Do a search on this site for Divi and you'll be relieved with many positive reviews. Never seen mold, did not have hot water one year as the boiler broke and the large replacement part had to be shipped in: they did get it fixed faster than expected. Always

I'm afraid the Natick soccer mom is on vacation, or at the world cup, or is a hoax. I privately e-mailed her the day after the note appeared and haven't heard back. That with the two polite requests here, makes me wonder. Hope she comes thru. Of course, this stuff is really easy to make at home. Dr Doug

Get to Orleans and find the Gess gas station, on the hill side of town. It is on your left if coming from P'burg on the central road and your right if coming from Orient. If you take the "scenic coastal road" from P'burg by Oyster Bay you'll need to turn left when you hit the main street in Orleans. Start looking for the station on the right. A small sign is by the ro

Anon, That was a fair question. Deepti was found guilty in the Sint Maartin Courts of a business infraction involving misrepresentation. I was going to remind those on the other site of that fact, but decided against it since they are such zealots. It was reported in The Daily Herald and she even wrote a long letter on the other site, but never admitted the wrongdoing. Watcher, you

Billy B, You'll be very happy with Kenny's. For fishing try the best fisherman on the Island, Chi Chi at Lee's Restaurant. Both half day and full day trips can be had. Located near the Simpson Bridge east of the airport. Check with them after you arrive as the trips fill up fast, at least they do in March when I go. Enjoy SXM Dr Doug
