I wouldn't suggest an argument to your point, Phillipe, that its in poor taste to bring your chair or your blanket into the middle of Kontiki's contractual area. But that's not what happened in this report. These people reported that they were set up down at the waterline. And isn't this what we often see regarding the aggressive harassment of people on a public chunk of bea

I dunno about those Citronella candles though. In my experience they only work if you pick it up, throw it, and smash the mosquito with it. We were in Grand Case in late May '95. I remember talking to one of the guys on the staff at GCBC about how hot it was that week. "Bad hurricane season coming.", I remember him saying. I guess he knew, alright. I bought the VHS tape, but I haven't looked at it in while. I can't remember if its the same as this YouTube. Although its definitely longer than 8 minut

Apparently the baggage fees are only for those who have discounted tickets. So who pays full fare? Anyway, those who have paid full fare or are Gold or Platinum flyers don't have to pay baggage fees...how nice of AA. I couldn't find any reference anywhere to Aadvantage passengers, but I suspect we'll pay as well. So this guy's advice is to carry-on. Wonder what's g

I don't have a picture, but we took the road over the mountain to Dawn Beach from Phillipsburg the week before last, and came up on the Westin from the back on the dirt road. From that direction, it looks like the

If you look at the two pictures, the pools are not the same, nor is the orientation of the pool edge to the seawall. Parallel in the second picture, not in the first. Unless a new pool was put in when the resort was rebuilt.

I may challenge Barbara as the oldest one here, although we both may be younger than Augie. This is a story from one of our now long gone favorite restaurants on the island, Bertine's up on the hill overlooking Grand Case. "Bertine's" was a combination of the owner/operator's names, Bernie and Christine, former residents of my hometown, Chicago. Anyway, this would

This may be oversimplified, but as I understand it, French St. Martin is considered to be part of France. From what we're told by knowledgeable travel experts, tipping, as we know it in the US, is not done in France. The standard 15-20% US style tip is simply not expected in Paris. If the service is exemplary one might throw down $5 or $10 depending on the amount of the bill, which might

Geez-o-Pete!!! I go down to the island for the first time in two and a half years and while I'm there all hell breaks loose. My two Euros...board control has been a bone of contention at TTOL since the inception 8 years ago. Heaven knows Carol and I have gotten after it with each other numerous times, and for a long time Bob! and I pretty much hated each other's guts, although we b

The one time we went to Sol e Luna, and this was a couple of years ago, we had a really bad experience. Someone in the party at the next table ordered the same shrimp entree as my wife, but returned it because they felt it was brought too soon and they were still working on their appetizers. When they brought our entrees, it was obvious that my wife's dinner was the same plate returned b
