Looking for recommendations on how to start planning a trip to the Galapagos Islands.

It’s my dream too to visit these islands. There is a large number of endemic species studied by Darwin during his travel on HMS Beagle. I especially like the Galapagos tortoise that can live for several hundred years. So, I will follow the thread, too, and see what tips people can share about traveling to these islands.
The organizers of the Tokyo tours I know say it’s hard to get there, and there aren’t many companies that would like to get you there because it’s not the most popular destination. I still hope I will find a way there, but I would most probably need a lot of money for that.
