I would suggest you go shopping the following day. Thieves often target tourists fresh off the plane, with no tans and non-island clothing (long pants, long-sleeve shirt). Perhaps you could stop for a few things in the Grande Marche and have one of your party wait in the car.

A couple of my favorite views are 1) from the Summit Resort at Maho looking over the lagoon towards Sandy Ground, and 2) from Fort St. Louis at Marigot. Both are very safe.

Thanks for the tip. Having one of stay in the car seems to be the way to go. I suppose locking the car doors while waiting in the car is also recommended.
