Getting lost

I am always getting lost or making the wrong turn. Is there a detailed road map of the island?

If you want an electronic one, scroll to the bottom of this page and look for "Island Map". One that page there are links to google earth and google maps that you can zoom in on.

Just go round the Island clockwise on even number days and counter clockwise on odd number days.

hofstetter,

While there are a gazillion reasons I can think of to want a map of the island, I have to tell you, some of our best island finds over all our St. Maarten years were things we found purely by accident and by wandering up or down a road not knowing where it might lead us.

That said, if I had to be somewhere at a given time, we'd usually do a test run but life without maps was the norm on the island until recently and - while it might help to pinpoint some of the places people often speak of - I'm still thinking island explorations without a map are still a lot more fun, even today.

Respectfully,

pat

The idea is to have the tires on your rental car wear evenly

LostMon, Don't even think about saying uneven wear. You will give them another idea to charge tourists. HaHa.

I agree with Pat. The best part of the trip is to explore. Keep a map handy just in case you get reallllly lost, but our past experiences were getting lost and asking locals for directions. You'd be surprised, you could make a friend or two! However, if the neighborhood is remote, pull out the map! >grinning smiley<
