WaterMon,Sounds right to me. I'm thinking they stopped bottling in the 90's but don't know why.

Yeah and on the label originaly it was writen in french "eau de Source" (spring water) but since we don't have any spring here and it was bottled tap water they had to change to "Eau de Table" (table water)

Did La Fiesta become David's-I know David's was across from the Marigot Post Office and had the best Beef Wellington and trivia nights were a blast. I know David died very young (Heart Attack?) and the place closed (about 15 Years ago?)

Carol,
I am not sure it is the same place.. Actually my memory is blank about a place called David's accross from the post office. La Fiesta was owned by David Cohen (who's still alive today). I know that at one point on of his manager took over (maybe it was David..) and few weeks later died (not from a heart attack but his car exploded on Airport road for unknown reasons... He was young) The place closed for a while, then they build up the waterfront and it became the Bamboo's Cafe I beleive. So it could be the same place, but it didn't last long enough to leave a "print" in my neurones...

Kind Regards,
Philippe

David's Pub was not across from the Post office, it was on the same side of the road and closer to Marina Royale. They had Trivia Night twice a week and at one point in 1990 David opened another restaurant "The Stone Crab" on the Marigot Bay waterfront behind what is now US Imports. His wife Tess used to work for Mullet Bay.

All right.. Now I remember exactly where it was! It was almost like an old Irish pub, very woody inside with very high ceiling if I recall. Always packed, and party booming....

David Tyzak was from Nottingham, England...He would have preferred a reference to an English Pub! The "lower" part of the restaurant had two areas set up for dart boards, one was Wembley and I've forgotten the other.

The signature dish was Beef Wellington. The two trivia MC's were Mr.C and Buccaneer Bob.

Oups... sorry! I sincerly didn't knew hrom where was David, and never been neither to England nore Ireland myself, I wouldn't know the difference. That what I had in mind of what a "irish pub" would look like. Now I know.

Philippe

That is exactly the place I was thinking of-I remember the post office being a landmark to find it. Place was always packed on Trivia nights-we would go really early, eat dinner and then stay just to play Trivia because if you came later you never got in. As a said before- best beef wellington I ever had-thanks for the info

I agree David's on Wed night(trivia) was a great time.IMO those were the best DAYS on SXM. How about ZACKERY'S in Point Blanch had the best giant ribs, onionloaf, and Boston Cream Pie........Phillipe,I remember those LOLO's in Grand Case before the hurrician with the cooking drums in the road.Remember driving in Grand Case with two way traffic before the by-pass rd was built around 1990.How about when the restaurants had 8:00 & 10:00PM seatings for dinner.Times have really changed since those DAYS.

Especially the service at Zachary's was great! Annemarieke and her sister used to work there. They might have served you smiling smiley

She still raves about the Banana Cream Pie and Lemon Merenque Pie at Sam's place.

Another one of her old time favorite restaurant is Le Pavillion in Simpson Bay on the water and the Sunday buffet at Le Gallion.

Also when Mark's was on the Cul de Sac road,Pres Nixon dining in GC,the helicopter trips from Anse Marcel, picking up people who wanted a ride, the traffic light at the Midass intersection,Studio 7 above Royale, outside rooftop Airport restaurant section, the airport before the 80's addition, watching planes land before the SSBB was built, rental cars HAD to be delivered to your hotel.

And to add but a few more:

There was NO timeshare on St. Maarten at all?
Mullet Bay had a buffet breakfast on the beach and drink service, too?
You could drive all the way to the top of Paradise Peak safely?
You could spend a day on Orient and be one of under 8-10 there?
You stopped by Pedro's BBQ grill and asked him what was for lunch today?
You went to the airport for lunch and an icecream on the rooftop for dessert?
The monkey in the tree at the Rusty Pelican?
When Sheraton ran Mullet Bay and installed pay by the hour tvs?
Bertine's served those incredible ribs with a more incredible sunset?
FishPot, Rainbow and Sebastianos were the places to eat in GC?
You could park on the road at Maho Beach and watch the planes?
The drive to P'berg took less than 20-25 minutes from anywhere on the island?
Risdon's drive in by the old bridge?
Risdon's ice cream by the original jetty?
Pinnocchio's on Front St. served an awesome breakfast?
There was no topless on the Dutch side of St. Maarten?
The road 'over the hill' to P'berg was under construction?
And lastly, Midass muffler at the foot of the same hill?

Risdon's on Front Street for a hot dog with Matauks hot sauce?

Hillside Drive in?

No where to eat in Grand Case, it was just a fishing village?
