Barbara,Yes I meant the eruptions in Aug/Sept 97.I was on SXM for a short 5 day trip staying at the Pelican.I couldn't believe how much ash accumulated when my car was parked overnight.

Well for those who wrote about La Rosa Too, the restaurant has always been in the back of the Maho Shopping Mall by the fountain, it opened in January 1998. Where the pharmacy is now there was a clothing store and next too it for a short while there has been a small take away Italian run by an Italian lady, Elena, the wife of Sergio an Italian guy that used to run the rouge et Noir Casino in Philipsburg.

by the way talking about Rouge et Noir casino does anybody here remembers the Why Not Piano Bar attached to it and facing the Great Bay? Barbara of course you dowinking smiley

Enzo, of course I do. I remember that bar well, and I remember your father running the casino.
I also remember the original La Rosa Restaurant on Front Street

Bob, La Rosa 2 was never where the pharmacy is.

Hi barbara, actually my father actually came to run the Why Not, then in the course of events he ended up running the rouge et Noir Casino.

Of course I meant that La Rosa Too opened in 1988.

Barbara, I feel so sick watching these hurricanes, it is like receiving a big blow directly to my stomach.

hi Enzo
you are right. I forgot that at first he was running Why Not.
God, how many years ago was that?

I was just watching CNN News with pictures of Haiti.
How terrible!
I have that same feeling in my stomach you have.
it's so sad and so scary
and I know it could happen here again so quickly.

Barbara, I agree but wasn't the first La Rosa in the Pharmacy location.Or was there only the one named LaRosa Too in the other location. I keep seeing that restaurant in the pharmacy location for some reason.

After seeing all the hurrician pictures they reminded me of when Orient Village wasn't built and the road ended at the round about.Only sand from the circle to the beach and no other hotels close by.Many more trees on the beach for shade and smaller beach bars. Also when the Cul de Sac rd was just a dirt road down to the boat dock.

Enzo I am glad you corrected yourself-I was saying to myself that I could have sworn eating at LaRosa too long before 1998-when did you leave???
