Wi Fi

Hi. It has been a a year plus since Linda and I have been at St Martin.

Can anyone give me and idea as to where there are open wi fi connections around Mullet Bay and the Towers?

I'm sure The Towers hasn't upgraded. Heck, they just found e-mail.

I partially read part of "...too many bad reviews..." Thank goodness those guys aren't going to be soaking up "TOO MANY" SUN RAYS on the Island. That will leave more for the rest os us.

Thanks for the help.

Frank

The only place I know of in the general vicinity that has Free WiFi is in and around the Sunset Beach Bar but I am sure there is some sort of internet connection around the Towers as well. It may not be WiFi but certainly internet access. There are many vantage points around the island (like at some restaurants in Simpson Bay) but the Sunset Beach Bar is the most easily accessible from the Towers.

Thank you for the informtion.

I know of several places that have internet services. I'm leaning towards not bringing my laptop and depending on my admin assistant. I found out today out that Verizon has phone service around Mullet Bay which is probably as good as lugging around a laptop. Besides, the thing cost dseveral grand and I would hate to tempt fate between Washuington D.C. and SXM.

Again, thank you very much for the informaion.

Yes Verizon does work well on the Dutch side. Expensive but does work. I found no signal when at Friars Bay so I guess it's spotty at best when on the French side. Also, when using Verizon, you will get some annoying recorded calls from Curacao but I just didn't answer my phone until I knew who the caller was. For calling the States, I use Skype as long as there's a strong WiFi signal but when dealing with the internet, I have always depended on the Maho signal for my laptop.

you can get broadband hookup at the Towers for 60 a week or 10 a day, some say expensive, I say a whole lot easier than lugging the lap top around looking for a place for free internet. And there is nothing easier than sitting in your unit and going online, or bring an extension cord (the modem just plugs into the wall and then into your computer - cat5) and sit on the deck. I have heard that you can pick up WIFI from the college, but I think it depends on your unit? Never tried it.

The Towers...6th thru 8th floors facing the parking lot/medical school...out on the deck. It's right on the edge of the med school's range...probably so the students can be as far as the basketball courts and still pick it up. I personally have not tried this because our unit is on the lagoon side but friends have stayed on that side and said it was useable.
