#1 daughter in paradise

Hi,
My Jax set out on a wonderful adventure, the last few months found her working on an opulent yacht sailing among the string of pearls that the Caribbean islands remind me of.
I'm trying to learn all I can about the places there she might visit, the footsteps she takes, sand, path, cobblestones, the smell of the air she breathes, the food she eats, the type of people she encounters.
I've been looking at every map of St Marin/St. Maarten and can't find a port where a yacht docks, the beach closest to it she might enjoy, the type of food a close by restaurant serves, a gits shop, maybe a movie or a soccer field!
Then I found this forum! wow, information, so if any of you are so inclined, please describe this place my daughter inhibits so I can enjoy it too even though I can't be there right now.
Thanks much
Jax's Mom

St. Maarten is home to the Mega Yachts. They will be berthed in Simpson Bay Lagoon where all the marinas are located and it is an extremely sheltered area. It depends what size vessel she is on as to where she will be docked. All the marinas are first class and cater to the Mega Yachts.

There are many restaurants and bars surrounding the Lagoon. The crews from the Mega Yachts all tend to hang out at certain waterfront establishments so she will be with a very active crowd. She can get any type of food she would like from gourmet French (the island is half French) to local creole and of course typical American food. The grocery stores are very well stocked too. There are casinos on the island, spectacular beaches and the movie theaters are within walking distance of her vessel.

The closest beach to where she is berthed would be Simpson Bay beach. However she can take a local bus for $1.00 to nearly anywhere on the island. The island is totally duty free so she can shop in Philipsburg for exceptional values on jewelry and liquor.

The Mega Yacht crews tend to be young, single and from all parts of the globe. She will have many stories to tell about her clients too!

There are many marinas on the island where the mega yachts and the private yachts anchor.
the one that beachwife mentioned is the biggest, but there are others too. The island is small and there is a large "yacht" community.....
she will have fun!
If you have Google earth, you cna find St. maarten at 18.1N, 63.1W and take a high resolution tour of the island.
it will show all the marinas.

Thank you all so much!

I've spent hours exploring the island on the Google site you provided, it's exotic: West Indies Mall, French cul de sac, and homey: Bobby's Marina.

So Simpson Bay is on the Dutch side, duty free jewelery at Philipsburg, hmmmm.
She will also enjoy the French side, her school French is pretty good.

There are quite a number of communities on this little dot on a map, I pictured sky blue waters, lots of sand and few summer cabins, guess I was hundred years behind.

You do live in paradise, thank you for sharing it with me and making me closer to my little girl. She is having the time of her life!
