I'm stealing this info from Facebook. If you are island, PLEASE come out and join in.

The United Task Force Against Crime (UTFAC) has decided that due to the increase of violent crime and robberies on the island of St.Maarten/Saint Martin that a march, candle light vigil will be held to bring focus to this very important issue.

The Candle light vigil will be held on Saturday July 31st.from 7pm-9:30pm.
Starting point is the John Larmony Center, the group will walk along Long Wall Road, up Front street to the Government Building. UTFAC is inviting the community at large to attend.

Please bring a candle, or small light with you.

More info will be sent out during the course of the week.
If you would like more information, please contact the following persons in UTFAC: Clarence Richardson, Lenny Priest, Jadira Veen. Benjamin Kelly and Elektra.

Crime is everybody's business and right now our little island is slowly turning into a paradise for criminals. Time to get up and show that we will NOT TOLERATE those in our midst who are hellbent on destroying our well being.

God Bless the broken road....

Unfortunatly I will not be able to attend since it is a saturday eve and I am on duty too at CO.... But I will definitly be there with all of you in my mind! This summer is sad and out of control!... I would be curious to know how many (if any..) of our elected (or Un-elected) politicians/officials will attend! I know that some will definitly because I know that some are commited, and we know who they are, but we also know and/or suspect who will not!...

Kind Regards,
Philippe

I wish I could be there. I keep trying to think of what those of us off Island and most importantly tourist can do to make a impact with the media. Is there some way we could put out an official email address for direct emails to government or maybe a on line petition? I guess I am just grasping at straws but the vigil is a great idea. I hope and pray that lots and lots fill the streets.
