Interesting article in The Daily Herald

Every weekend The Daily Herald has a section called, appropriately, Weekender. One of the regular articles is an interniew with a St Maartener who has left the island and gone on to succed in some way.

This gentleman has a lot of good things to say.

he tells it like it is Elaine.
I know him and his story and it is sad but true that many of our young people are forced to work and do business elsewhere instead of offering their talents to make St.Maarten a better place.

Just when they need the bright ones who are those ultimately needed to run the show. The island government should be ashamed of themselves.

of course they should
it's been a long ongoing problem unfortunately.
I think they want to hold on to their power and these smart young educated dutch and french st maarteners scare them.

Bingo!! Barbara, once again you've hit the nail right on the head and they who perpetrate this treatment of their own young people should be ashamed of themselves.

These are the people most desperately needed who have the vision and the know how and the love of home and who could bring the island to its fullest potential once given the chance and sadly, this is the way they're treated.

Respectfully,

pat

"they want to hold on to their power and these smart young educated dutch and french st maarteners scare them."

This is exactly the case, and since very long time already! you are right on....

Kind Regards,
Philippe

I'm a newbie resident, and I can see that Barbara's explanation is exactly correct. Again, shameful.
