Hello My wife and I will be going to SXM in November with 2 other couples we are looking forward to some night life seeing how our last visit 12 years ago was with our 9 year old son which kept us in nights. Anyone have some suggestions for Fun ?

Mark,

Where are you staying and what do you consider 'fun' since that's a pretty wide open field. For some that would be dancing the night away at a local pub while for others, dinner and an early night and for others still, fun could be dinner and some casino time and then a late night club. There's lots going on all across the island, but the most active area is probably stretching from Maho to Simpson Bay and there abouts with a little bit of everything as previously mentioned.

Define your question a bit and I'll bet there are a lot of folks here who would be happy to help you out.

We're more of the dinner and a an hour at the casino and then an early night but we're also up and on the beach fairly early, too.

Have a great trip and welcome back. And boy oh boy, are you ever in for some surprises once you get there.

Respectfully,

pat

You can do many things like sail on the Pub Crawl which I believe visits 3 restaurants to sample their wares but on a boat. You can hang out in Maho where there is a new night club called Tantra or visit the Casino Royale. Across from there in the Carnevarsarie area is another night club called Bliss. That Club doesn't really start hopping until after midnight. Then there is the Red Piano which is a nice bar to hang out and meet people and listen to good music. It's in the Pelican complex. You can do a sunset sail. You can go to the Casino, or Sopranos Bar in Maho. And finally, there are a few places that have music on the beach in the evening. I believe there's one in the Orient Beach area one night during the week and another on Simpson Bay beach at a new beach restaurant called Karakters that I believe has a jazz night.

Also, When you're at the airport, pick up the mag K-Pasa which should list the musical groups playing around the island, mostly at restaurants in the evening.

Enjoy!

The biggest change in the past 12 years is that back then, the French side was seen more as the center for entertainment. Now, that is clearly not the case at all.

Most postings have included the best advice... for dancing, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, TANTRA at Casino Royale/Maho rules the roost.

In the Cupecoy/Atlantis World Casino area, a swanky club named Khush does smart cocktails with a funky vibe.

Always dependable, Sopranos Piano Bar in Maho has a live piano entertainer taking requests nightly. Sunday features local players. All other nights feature players from the USA, UK and other international spots, with nice lighting and sound, and a great barstaff. Say hi to bar manager Maurice, Cris from Argentina, and the lovely Lana.

In Simpson Bay, you can find live entertainment on that strip of restaurants (Pineapple Pete's, Lee's Roadhouse, etc), usually a single, duo, or trio, often featuring Ronnie Santana on guitar.

At the Pelican Resort/Hollywood Casino area, a drink on the beach, lit up by a huge torch at Buccaneer is a nice choice, followed by cocktails at The Red Piano, where there is piano entertainment earlier in the night, then the club takes on a 2nd life as the choice for locals (who show up after their shifts in all the Simpson Bay restaurants and bars), keeping the place friendly and fun between 1 AM and the end of the night/well into the morning. Say hi to friendly owners Jay and Collin.
