Have been going to sxm for many years, and have heard of Yvettes but never been. Type of menu? Expensive? Any thoughts appreciated.

I have never been there but doing a search on this site revealed a conversation a few years ago but I would think still helpful... click on the link...

This is what I love about this site vs others is that the history of threads is extensive. You can go back many, many years and find lots of info.

From what was provided on that link above:

Get to Orleans and find the Gess gas station, on the hill side of town. It is on your left if coming from P'burg on the central road and your right if coming from Orient. If you take the "scenic coastal road" from P'burg by Oyster Bay you'll need to turn left when you hit the main street in Orleans. Start looking for the station on the right. A small sign is by the road just before the station, take a right and look for a house with a sign on it, also on your right. Park just by it off the street. Enjoy.

yvettes is a must visit for all visitors. the entree prices range from $7.50 to $24.00. the $24.00 meal is lobster and steak, surf and turf. all meals are served with choice of rice and peas or french fries, plantations, johhnycake and salad. all local cookinmg.fresh fish both fillet and whole cooked 5 different ways, your choice. stewed conch for $12.00 is my favorite followed by the snapper sauteed in garlic butter and lime. t bone steak for $14.00 and sirlion steak for $12.00.there are other chicken dishes along with curried goat (delicious at $8.00), oxtail, and many very delicious shrimp dishes. anyone would be foolish not to try it. a great place with very nice people.
