Curacao had a tornado yesterday

Curacao also had a tornado which destroyed 40 homes. No one hurt thankfully.

Oh my...is this something that has happened before on any of the islands? This is the first one I have ever heard of. Usually it's just hurricane winds that I hear about but a tornado?

It's uncommon to have them come in over land. We have water spouts in the sea freuently..when they come in to land they are called land spout tornadoes, I think.
They usually are weak and easily disrupted by friction,and occur near bodies of water or over flat land devoid of much vegetation.
weak or not,they can still cause destruction
