pelican key area

Hello from canada. a group of 8 adults are renting a villa in the pelican key area in feb. 09. ? is this a windy area, are the beaches long, sand type?, rest around, grocery shopping avail. car rental avail, can we get a large car to hold 6, or a van. any input would be wonderful. thanks Lynn

I don't think the wind in Pelican Key is much different from other areas on the island. Just depends, but generally it isn't too windy. As far as beaches are concerned, except for the man-made beaches at Flamingo and Pelican resorts, the beaches are pretty rocky and not great for swimming. You'll probably want to rent a car and travel to one of the other island beaches during the day.

yes, you will be able to get a large car or van to hold 6 people without anyn problem.
be sure to reserve ahead of time as February is our busiest time and rentas are hard to get at the last minute.
Pelican Key is a lovely residntial area. with a car, in 5 minutes you are on the main road where there are bars, restaurants, casinos, stores, etc.
It is a great location to be in.
