need your help..traveling 1st week of June

I keep reading there is a lot of car break ins, is it really worth renting a car for the week if this happens a lot or just take local transportation?

We had no trouble renting last summer. I would suggest paying a dollar or two and park in a lot rather then park on the street.

This all depends which side of the island you are staying. We stayed at Oyster Bay and a car is a must!

It's not just Philipsburg --it can happen anywhere on the island and frequently at the beaches. Use common sense and do not leave anything in the car. If you are staying in Simpson Bay area--you can walk in the evening to many nice restaurants. But, I think a car is necessary to explore the many beautiful and interesting places on the island.

We stay in Simpson Bay all the time. We drive to the beaches and explore during the day leaving nothing in our car. In the evening we park it at the resort and walk all over the area to many fine restaurants, bars etc with no issues.

By all means, rent a car. Don't bother with Phillipsburg
