That picture makes it fairly obvious why people are sent flying into the water and often seriously injured if and when the pilot chooses to "go around"...that is, to abort his landing...which requires moving the throttles from near idle to 100% (maximum power). The generated thrust, downwash and wakee turbulence is extremely dagerous. That beach is the most dangerous thing that I, as a retired pilot, have ever seen on short final. It's worse than tall trees and buildings. I would not want that hesitation in my decision making knowing I'm potentially going to kill people if my airspeed on final is too high or I'm too high to land in the required landing zone in order to get safely stopped in the remaining runway distance !!! Unbelievably scarey...and I'd highly recommend NOT taking your children to see the planes up close like that...put yourself in danger but leave the innocent behind. Cheers, spike
