Does anyone know whether the Divi St. Maartins Time Share Owners Org.(DSMTSO) is still active. I own a week and have just been assessed $1400.00 for renovations that are not specified in my contract. I have made many complaints to the Management over the years - mostly since the Huricane damages in 1999 & 2000 that no one repaired or replaced the damaged areas and/or furnature. Now they want to refurbish and lay this on the backs of the Time share owners.I am interested in getting a legal opinion on this assessment and our choices of action. I was advised by Divi in North Carolina that I will not be able to use my timeshare or trade it through RCI until the assessment is paid!

Check out TTOL ( www.traveltalkonline.com ) There is a lot of legal stuff going on about the Special Assessments. Seem quite a few of the timeshares are starting to bill the Timeshare owners. Pelican, Sapphire, etc. We are refusing to pay this assessment with Sapphire and have joined a litigation group (Sapphire owners) to stop it. Appears it is illegal as per the SXM lawyers hired.
We did bank our 2006 wks (wks 49/50) with RCI about a month before we were due to go without paying the Assessment and had no problem with RCI.
