Westin-Access to Dawn beach

This will be our 13th visit to SXM. We were concerned and not too thrilled when we saw the construction last March.

Does the existance of the hotel affect access to Dawn Beach to others not staying at the Westin. Also, is there still a small parking area in front of Mr. Busbys ? that was very convenient.

Did the hotel set up their own area down the beach for chairs & umbrellas for their guests, or have the hotel guests invaded the beach area in front of Mr. Busbys ?

I have the same questions.
We used to love going to Dawn Beach and getting a chair from Mr.Busby's or Mrs. B's. Is there still parking somewhere for non-hotel guests?

its AWFUL. they're "open" but its GROSS. they're "finished" with what people
SEE (ie the exterior in back) but they are still busy with building back parking lots, and roads that are being diverted. its muddy and dirty and there are an awful lot of "workers" hanging around.

pool ocean side they are drilling, chairs everywhere around the pool. we walked around to see what was happening: workers leering at the few people around the pool. YUCK!

the bar is too bright and overpriced. the food was good though when we stopped in for a drink & snack one evening. and the concierge ("jackie") that i dealt with when i stopped in one other morning for tickets for the ferry crossings to Saba and St. Barths was extremely nice, professional and courteous.
