There is a store on Back Street (and goes to the next street). If you are on Front street facing Back street ( Greenhouse end) and the Casino is on your right, to the left will be a 2 story bluish green building. It is a general store with alot of nice things. Andrea The Nov. before Luis an "engineering" firm dredged sand out of the ocean to make ground for the "new cruise ship pier". Since they made a hole in the ocean and sand being sand ( ie the Great Bay beach) filled up the hole. Then Luis came through and move some more sand in the hole. The construction company also had a large crane blown off its tracks on the new pier.

Tried to get ribs at Lidos the Mon after Regatta and they had none. They said there was none on the island. So we did the chicken instead, it was great. I just try to remember it is an island and you just have to get on island time. SXM??? Wendell

Sorry Contessa I disagree. These violent crimes are comitted from persons who have no reguard for life ( yours or theirs). The only way to stop this type of crime is to cleanse SXM from the drugs. A monumental task in itself. Then the users will go somewhere else to find them ( the likelyhood of them stopping them from using is about nil). Philippe. You must have been lucky. The only way to reduce problems and insure longevity in a business on the Dutch side is to partner up with a local ( Dutch) businesman. Everybody else is an outsider. As for the French side what I have seen it is easy to start a busniness there but then the businesses then wait for the paper work to be done on the Dutch side. My first cruise on NCL was fro MIA. On the itenerary was SXM in 1985. I was just looking on their site and didn't see any stops on SXM. Now I am trying to remember when I last saw a NCL ship in port in Great Bay. My last NCL cruise had SXM as a destination ( Seaward ( pre stretch)) in 1997. Just trying to clear the cobb webs.
