I've had people ask if you can rent cars on SXM. I guess that's not a stupid questions because there are no car rentals on Bermuda. Responding to Barbara's query about finding cabbage in the supermarkets...... I'm a real shopper and find items in SXM supermarkets that I'll never find in my area and beyond!! The supermarkets have some of the finest produce, cheeses,

4 old mischievous Grandmas were sitting at a table in a nursing home. About then an old Grandpa walked in. One of the old Grandma's yelled out saying, 'We bet we can tell exactly how old you are.' The old man said, 'There ain't no way you can guess it, you old fools.' One of the old Grandmas said, 'Sure we can! Just drop your pants &

A man and woman had been married for more than 60 years. They had shared everything. They had talked about everything. They had kept no secrets from each other except that the little old woman had a shoe box in the top of her closet that she had cautioned her husband never to open or ask her about. For all of these years, he had never thought about the box, but one day the little old woman go

Morris and his wife Esther went to the state fair every year, and every year Morris would say, 'Esther,I'd like to ride in that helicopter.' Esther always replied, 'I know Morris, but that helicopter ride is fifty dollars, and fifty dollars is fifty dollars' One year Esther and Morris went to the fair, and Morris said, 'Esther, I'm 85 years old. If I don&

ADDENDUM....... We had tickets to SXM on 9/24. No way was I getting on a plane.....but, after talking with my brother who's a Navy S.E.A.L. I felt a little better. He reminded me that it was the safest time to travel, so I decided to go. He was right. The airport was loaded with military. Marines carrying huge guns and walking around. Very eery! When we arrived in SXM we were amazed

I was packing up my mothers home after she had passed away when my husband called me to turn on the tv. He said that a plane crashed into one of the twin towers. I couldn't believe my ears. The only tv in the house was old (it had a round thingy on the top for an antenna) and I wasn't sure it would work. I turned it on and I saw smoke then the 2nd crash! I thought something was wro

Thanks, all! They're coming in Feb. Oyster Pond Estates sounds good. I'll tell them about it. It's only a short drive to O.B. which is their favorite. Also, I think the place Eric & Carol stayed was in Pointe Blanche which while is beautiful, getting there is half the fun. Plus, a schlep from O.B. Thanks for all the suggestions. Contessa

BTW....there's a book about one family's life thru Luis. It isn't a great book but a day to day accounting of what they went thru and a little family history thrown in. Hurricanes, Paradise and Fairy Tales by Kim Norris Samuels. Ironically, when I was reading this book in April on the beach and the characters seemed familiar and lo and behold I knew Kim & Ron back in the da

How horrible it was. I was there the week before and left on Sept.1st!! How's that for timing? I was doing business on Anguilla and returned to SXM for a couple of days R & R and remembered how intense the sun appeared. When I was in Anguilla I commented that my skin hurt from the sun (I wasn't sunning on the beach just walking around resorts). An 'old-timer' said tha

Some friends are interested in perhaps returning to SXM but after all the crime reported on the French side they're not returning there. They're used to villas but will try other rentals not in high-rises. Only low-crime areas, please. Any suggestions? Thanks. Contessa

1) NUDITY I was driving with my three young children one warm summer evening when a woman in the convertible ahead of us stood up and waved. She was stark naked! As I was reeling from the shock, I heard my 5-year-old shout from the back seat, 'Mom, that lady isn't wearing a seat belt!' 2) OPINIONS On the first day of school, a first-grader handed his teacher a note fr
