This last time while in SXM I brought only Travellers cheques. Hubby had some cash, but we used Travellers cheques for most dinners. With the crime escalating, can't take any chances. :-D Contessa

I have to agree. Sol e Luna has one of the most romantic ambiance's on SXM but is very overrated, IMHO! I was there a few weeks ago and had the Cioppino which wasn't very flavorful and a bit pricy. My husband had the shrimp and said it was just ok. We had joined some friends for dinner or we wouldn't have returned. We had a much better dinner at Don Camillo's in Marigot

All of the suggestions are great. Perhaps Alamanda would be best because of it's close proximity to the beach and the village. However, never, never, ever leave your children by the pool alone.......while on vacation or at home. It's just not being a responsible parent. SXM is a wonderful vacation spot. Enjoy!! Contessa

I highly recommend the Mini Club. It's very reasonable and it's a quality buffet. Children are welcome of course, unless they misbehave. They don't want the 'look' from the owner. Even I don't misbehave, there. Besides lobster there's duck, roast beef, roast pork, roast pig, chicken, approx. 6 different salads, side dishes and lots of dessert. All for $45

John, All the facts were not released.....ie: the locks to the sliders were cut from the INSIDE!! Hmmmmm.....sure smells like a rat to me! There's much more that will be told by the Kelletts. Chas doesn't know what he's talking about. If he was robbed you can bet your bottom $$$$ that he'd air his anger on the internet..loud and clear! Contessa

If you're that particular about your cutlery then I'd suggest you bring your own. I've cooked many a meal at LaVista and have never had any difficulty, but I have a penchant for 'making do'. I could use a plastic knife if I had to! ;-) Enjoy LaVista......I sure do! xoxox Contessa

Zeke, I wouldn't worry about your camera on that section of Orient. Just use good judgement in photo ops. The only designated area of nudity is Club O section which is a little walk from Bikini. Bikini is a good choice for hanging out. Nice little restaurant (not French, though ), bar, music and walking to a few shops. Good choice for a group! Wouldn't leave $$$ anywhere other th

An educated consumer is the best consumer. Do your homework. I'd highly recommend Sam @ Kay's Jewelers ( no, not Kay's from here ). Sam is an honest gentleman and will bend over backwards to be accomodating!! If you don't see what you want he'll get it for you!! Good Luck! xoxo Contessa

Thanks for the great report!! Last year we had the misfortune of connecting thru Santo Domingo and had the most awful experience!! How about the elevator for one + 2suitcases or 2 people + suitcase? We roared at that.......but the lack of assistance and lack of English was the pits!! But, afterwards we laughed at all of this......must have been the heat! Thanks, again for sharing!! :-D C

I agree with Neil. The art galleries have many paintings that depict the island as it was......a wonderful tribute to the past. Also, a wonderful author, artist and story teller, Ruby Bute has written 2 books that tell it all......' Golden Voices of St. Maarten' and 'Floral Bouquet to the Daughters of Eve'. Just one of the fascinating individuals who help us remember th
