Ed does have some informative posts. BUT, I wouldn't call what he writes at times "telling it like it is". Over the years,at times his words just plain cruel. Gert trusts Barbara to monitor this site, and if he didn't think she was doing a good job, he wouldn't have her do it.

I shipped a small portable DVD player to a friend in Cay Bay last year, and it was over $25. Like Ray stated, be prepared, it's very expensive. Might be cheaper to purchase a plane seat just for the luggage!! Just kidding!! Pauline

I just received word tonight that a good friend, and someone many of you may know, Teo, has died. She has been a pit boss for many many years at the Casino Royale, along with her husband Kevin. Her death was sudden, although she had been on dialysis for many years. She leaves behind a wonderful daughter, Kristen. Pauline

I agree with you that the isalnd is already over built, and it continues. There are some pluses to the new terminal though. No longer do you have to stand in line at check-in sweating profusely. And, in the terminal area it used to be hard finding a seat as you waited for a plane. The toilets all work now too. (so far!) Did they have to build an airport so large? Well, at the rate the i

I think I'd call it a "new" airport. Why not? It's not where the old one was. That's torn down. Sure, the runway is the same, but eveything else is brand spanking "new"!! Pauline

If you can't find a place in Simpson Bay, Rollin and his wife Norma rent them on the beach in Phillipsburg. Years ago Rollin and Norma rented chairs and cooked food at Cupecoy. Then they opened a wave runner business on Orient, and moved it over to P'burg. They are great people. Pauline

Sunshine, When did this happen to you? The reason I ask is that back in November they caught a couple of robbers who had been brandishing guns during robberies in the Cupecoy area. Pauline

Free WIFI in the Maho area, Sunset Beach Bar, Shrimpy's and Ric's. I just returned, but didn't need a phone. BUT, I did just check my Verizon Wireless plan, and it would have cost $1.49+ a minute to use my own phone on SXM. Check out you wireless plan before you leave. Pauline

Hi Spike, The Ma Doudou Factory is located over in Cul De Sac, across from the Sunrise Hotel. We also tried to see if we could ship a box home at the "Mailbox" in Simpson Bay, and they won't do it either. We brought 11 bottles of Vanilla Bananna back with us. Pauline

We were over at the Madoudou Factory today. We wanted to see if they would ship bottles back for us, but they don't. After the first of the year, 2007, you can visit their site www.ma-doudou.com, but they still won't be shipping it for you. Pauline

Shrimpy's is behind the old Tomatoes restaurant, which is now a supermarket. You park in the same parking lot, but walk around the back. The menu is limited, more of a place to have drinks and eat light. (At least it was last November) We enjoy it for the atmosphere, which is at a marina, and free wifi access for our laptop. Pauline

Has any recent travelers been over or stayed at the Caravanserai in the past few weeks? We stayed in a 1 BR a few years ago and liked it, but wonder what conditions are now. We have an opportunity to stay in November and need to decide quickly. Thanks for any info. Pauline

I really haven't looked for spices except for red pepper one year. That's when I said to myself, why didn't I just bring what I need with me. But your right, I should check the spices on the island. Pauline

Here's a little helpful hint if you are planning on cooking in a lot. I bring ziplock bags containing spices I would need for the time I'm there - red pepper, garlic powder, oregano, etc. It doesn't take up any room, and you certainly save by not having to purchase them there. Just pack enough to get you through your stay. Heloise, Oops, I mean Pauline!

Neils, There many wifi hotspots on the Dutch side. Shrimpys, Sunset Beach Bar, Maho area are a few. I brought my laptop last November, and it was great being connected to the web. If you have a wireless card for your laptop, or in it, you'll pick up a signal. Pauline

There's an article in today's Herald that says the road leading to Pointe Pirouette will be rerouted to feed in at the Towers, and it become the public road leading to Cupecoy and Lowlands. I'm trying to picture it. Are they saying that to get to Cupecoy, we'll turn right at the end of Maho (near LaRosa II) and somehow connect at the Towers? Barb or Neil, what's going
