Even though it's Christmas Eve, crime does not take a holiday... no matter where you are. New viewers to this site need to know what can happen on the island good or bad.... whether it's Christmas or any other day. Pauline

My pick would be Maho. It has a lot to offer for the evening. From restaurants, to bars, to shopping. All within walking distance. I wouldn't venture walking at night beyond the Great Bay property. That's my opinion. Pauline

It wasn't an easy decision to cancel. We love the Royal Islander, and didn't really want to stay somewhere else. Also, one week at RI was one we own, and the other was bought as an "extra" week on RCI for $665. They (RCI) will only issue a voucher, they won't return the money. So, hopefully I can get an "extra" week at the Royal Islander next year to add to my

We received this message from Nina Persaud at Royal Islander: The Royal Islander Club, La Plage sustained extensive damages during the passing of category 3 Hurricane Omar on October 15th through October 16th. Due to the extensity of these damages, Royal Islander Club, La Plage will not be operational until further notice. While we understand that you have made arrangements to use your home wee

John, We are scheduled for two weeks from now, Nov 2nd. We're using our week and bought an "Extra" week on RCI. RBC, from TTOL, wrote that RI is assessing the situation right now. Pauline

Denis, There was no mention of Royal Islander? Over on TTOL an "ANON" posted that it was destroyed. This is frightening. Pauline

I finally scanned in some old pictures from March of 1996. We were so anxious to get down to SXM to see what Luis did. See the link: Pauline

Enzo, it's so good to hear from you. There are reports 80% of the homes are damaged on Grand Turk.

You're never in a million years gonna cleanse SXM, or any country of drugs. That's an impossible dream. As soon as you get rid of one dealer, another takes their place. I agree with Contessa. Crimes are treated too lightly. Barbara can attest to that, right Barb? Pauline

At the Royal Islander we sometimes have the weather channel, and sometimes we don't. I don't know if Mr. Spadaro is the one running the satelitte, but you can be watching a show, and all of a sudden it is switched to another show! Pauline

Barb, Philippe, Is this as bad as the Daily Herald is describing today? Sometimes, when sitting on the porch at the Boat House, I've smelled it, but it appears it has gotten worse? Pauline

Every day I check both this site and TTOL. It's nice to see many familiar names posting here and it certainly makes it more interesting. And Barbara, you ARE doing a great job. Pauline

The Hideaway, which is part of LaVista on the Dutch side, is a hidden treasure. The food is excellent, and the view is just gorgeous. It looks out towards Saba, and if you're there around 6, you can watch the cruise ships go by all lit up. Pauline

I had thought the closed up store had once been a jewelry store. It could have been Riviera. Did that have big fancy wooden door handles in front?

Jeanne, thanks for clarifying. I probably passed you along the street!! BTW, did you notice that store I was describing? I'm pretty sure that used to be a jewelry store too. Maybe not.... Pauline

When we were there last week, the jewelry store that had the large wooden door handles (JN ?) is dark and empty. To the left, down the steps and next to the pharmacy is a jewelry store connected to Best Linens. I have the plastic bag in front of me which reads "Jewels & Linens # 3 Maho Shopping Centre" Tel 599-545-3078 email: jewels@si&#

There is WIFI in the Maho area. While we are at our timeshare at the Royal Islander, I can pick up a free signal at the pool area that Maho is sending. Royal Islander charges $10 a day. With the continuing rise of our maintenances fees, WIFI should be free. Pauline

What pathetic answers. I knew it was a matter of time before the N word was used. Yeah Ed, NUDIST. You just hate them, don't you?? And the nerve of them, right?? And, oh yeah, all those people on TTOL are NUDISTS.. right Mr. ED??? The only reson that Gert had any thought of that was that he was tired with dealing with the crap that was handed to the members by Mr ED. PAULINE
