I stayed there for 3 nights last October and will be there again for another 3 nights. Yes the beds are heavenly and so is the shower. Very urban looking rooms -- not what you'd expect in the way of tropical decor. Great pool and swim-up bar and nice Asian restaurant. Like having all the amenities contained in one location. This is what I wrote on my last trip report about the Westi

David and I recently spent a week in Provo, TCI in July. I wrote a trip report which is still available on TTOL under General Caribbean. We pre arranged drinks with Gretchen and Ken whose company we really enjoyed and extended drinks into a night out with dinner. Gretchen and Ken are lovely people, we had a lovely evening with them. She's a wealth of information and very helpful. Loui

New menu looks great, have made plans with friends to dine one evening there. Is the seafood buffet offered in late October? I recall at one time it was only offered during high season so we missed it each year by a week or two.

David and I will be in the Beacon Hill area for most of our upcoming trip and planned on stopping by most evenings. We were also planning to celebrate part of Halloween, if not all of it there as Kissing Fish is now gone. And we wanted to eat at Shrimpy's again - Oh my -- so much for planning! To reiterate Denis sentiments although not nearly as eloquently, we have had some great times

Philippe, I don't have a google account -- how can I see the new menu and photos of Captain Oliver's. We arrive on 10/25 and would like to have dinner there the following even with another couple so I'm interested in seeing what it being offered. Is the goat cheese with honey still on the menu? It was the best goat cheese salad I've ever eaten. It was only available on t

Spiga, Cafe Sunset at Grand Case Beach Club, La California and L'Esplanade all in Grand Case were offering dollar to euro back in February when you paid cash; but with the even weaker $ people were reporting that far less were doing it.

Read that the Stone is closed due to permit issues. I'd add Halsey's on the Dutch side. We really liked Big Fish for dinner otherwise no new ones to add in the last two years that we've visited. Batazu gets high marks from people but I'm not crazy about the location so I doubt I'd eat there. No view, no ambiance for me.

I have been a member of this board for probably as long as TTOL but don't post as often or come on as much as I do the other board. Am sorry that posts have been deleted. I will make it a point to visit this site more often now.

We are not timeshare owners but repeat resort visitors and while we love Mary's Boon the price of the rooms have gone up significantly with no improvements. We would be paying $100 more a night and that is off season if we returned for a 7th visit. We have decided instead to try the Beachside Villa's. What we liked and appreciated about Mary's Boon was the close proximity to the

Sunset Cafe at GCBC is doing one for one when paying in cash. Food was wonderful for dinner. Breakfast is also nice. Beach is small but quiet. Orient is a 10 minute drive. We stayed north of GCBC this trip (only back less than a week) so we enjoyed going to the restaurants in Grand Case. La California (informal dining) was also doing one to one as well as Spiga which you can walk to. We al

Just returned from SXM this past weekend and spent 3 nights at the Westin before moving over to our favorite hotel on the Dutch side, Mary's Boon. The Westin is a full service hotel with all the amenities one would expect from an upper class hotel. I know from the outside it doesn’t look like much but once inside the resort it is very tropical looking with a spectacular pool with several

We recently returned on a Friday night (last week) after not going for several visits because we had a horrible experience one Sunday evening regarding non service. We pretty much boycotted the place but wanted to go back and have steak. One of the big service issues when dining on a Sunday evening is Shawn doesn't work on Sunday's so that compounds the problem. On our recent visit

Where is Fathom, and what is it? Full restaurant, or only bar with appetizers? Appreciate any additional information as I will be in the Dawn Beach Area for a few days on my upcoming trip and would like to check it out. Thank you.

Bikini Beach Bar is open for dinner about 9/10 months out of the year. Baywatch hosts private parties every now and again and will be open for dinner. Both Kon Tiki and Boo Boo Jams have Sunday night parties but I do not think they offer dinner. We like Waikiki the best for comfort and service on Orient. They cater a lot to the French who tend to have larger meals at lunch time so we order

How about the Dinghy Dock for drinks. Happy Hour, u can pour your own liquor (as much as you want). You order the drink and the bartender hands you the bottle and a glass with ice. He makes the fru-fru drinks during Happy Hour. Captain Olivers has a great view of the marina especially at night. The food is average. The worst meal I ever had (only really bad meal in St. Martin actually) in

I've stayed at 3, Divi, Summit and Caravanserai. Only the Divi is on a beach but in my opinion too far from nightlife and things we like to do in the day. Summit is very nice but not on the beach although close to Mullet and Cupecoy. Caravanserai is in the midst of construction and while it's in a great location for partying I would consider hanging out at Maho beach for the day. To

We ate at Safari Grill 2 weeks ago based on recommendations from a cook who lives in St. Martin and he recommended it. I had the tagatielle in a light cream sauce with pieces of salmon that was delicious. Husband had a lamb dish with several side dishes wish he greatly enjoyed. Portions are large, menu is mostly French and quality is good. House wine was very good and we split a chestnut creme

You're very welcome. I should add if you search the SXM Archive trip report under my id, my 9th trip report would have more details about Alamanda then my latest. Breakfast is not included at Alamanda. The service is a tad too slow for us but the setting is very nice. You order ala carte off their menu. There are many breakfast options on and around Orient. Baywatch serves American

Mary's Boon receives my vote, wonderful secluded beach, no action there but that is one of the beautys of it. Tou can always hop in your car or take a taxi out to Airport Road where there are tons of restaurants and bars. MBs also has a dining room serving breakfast, lunch and dinner six days a week. Sunday is brunch only from 12 to 3. They have a honor bar where you make your own drinks

I hate to send you to another board but I've just completed a trip report on www.traveltalkonline.com where we stayed for a second time at Alamanda. Great little hotel. Breakfast served daily. Bar open 6 days a week, nice pool and very friendly staff. My trip report is under SXM Forum "fabila" is my user name. A new restaurant Safari Grill opened up in Orient Village which i

No Tom, Le Fish Bar is gone from Orient Village. Safari Grill is there now. Very nice restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We had dinner and I found it to be reasonable. Not as cheap as Le Fish Bar but good quality and big portions.

Yes, Tap 5 which is a small grocery store where you can get crossiants, pastries, liquor. Not a large variety of cheeses, etc but some in the refrigeration section. There is also a Tap 5 pizza restaurant which sells delicious thin crusted pizza, has cold cuts, and homemade salads. Orient Village is the area of stores and shops behind Alamanda Hotel and across the street from a strip of sto

Ms B's ribs on Dawn Beach are outstanding and the best in my opinion although the Lido Express has delicious ribs too. If you want to take away then Lido, if you want to sit down and enjoy I'd recommend Ms B's. Prices for both I think are $8.50 but you get more food at the Lido. Baywatch on Orient also has wonderful ribs in addition to many other lunch items. I've had

Only pro's as far as I'm concerned which is why I'm returning to Alamanda again. Hotel staff was very friendly, hotel is clean, nice size room and balcony. Nice pool. I like having a bar in the hotel and also breakfast served daily. Plenty of parking, small libary in main lobby where you can "borrow" a book. Also computer. There are now 8 restaurants to choose from

I totally agree with you Annie. Pineapple Pete's service is great, Pierre is wonderful and so is his staff and he has very good food. Peg Leg's service has always been slow but when Shawn isn't there it's terrible. Our last visit two weeks ago was so bad that had it been my first experience it would have been my last.

What a mess. Construction all over, dirt and noise. We didn't stay. Joan wasn't at Ms B's, only the beach attendant, no cook or waitress as they were not cooking on a Tuesday. He told us it's been slow. Buildings are starting to go up and they are literally up against her tent. The buildings are inches from her tent. I'm not sure that really is going to be a We
