Oh how we wish we could join you both! Or at least be a fly on the wall to hear the conversations between you....LOL "Hey Barbara...what do you think this is in the photo" "It looks to me like a Rhinocerous." "But Barbara, I don't see any animals in this photo" "Yeah, but wouldn't a Rhino be nice on the island....just think about the possi

Hi Barbara...since you have the clear photo, could you do me a favor and look at the last supposed boulder on the left of where I believe the airport is. To me it looks more like a small prop plane as there seems to be a tail which is higher up and then a lower long white blob extending across to the right. I tried zooming but the scan is too pixelated to see accurately.

Don't base the color of the boulders on the photo. Look at the color of the sand! It's pure white! Like SXM ever had pure white sand...lol... And if you look at Barbara's post card, you can see the boulders lined up just like the pure white objects in Barbara's photo. It all depends on the angle the original photographer took the photo. He could have very easily stood

That's perfect Barbara! The rocks at the tip of Carnevarsarie are showing (so no beach all the way around) and I can see that this was mostly beach where SSB&G is located now. But what you can also see in the bottom postcard are the large boulders defining the airstrip and from a distance, they do look quite large.

Thanks Phillipe for taking the time to go and get a photo. It seems like the same curving although my guess is that if it was Maho, the photographer would have been standing close to the shoreline in line with the steps of RI that lead down to the beach nearest Tortuga (not the large steps) and the rocks by Driftwood bar. Being in that position, he would be capturing more of the curve on the rig

OK...I have a question... I've placed 2 circles on the photo and I'm pretending now that it was Maho. The blue circle seems to be a small strip of low lying bushes extending out toward the water and beyond that (the red circle) looks like it's a continuation of the beach on the other side of the bushes as the beach wraps around the bend. Pretending that it was Maho, was there mos

One reason I would think it is not Anguilla is because the woman is topless. It is my understanding that Anguilla is totally against any nudity and so back in those days, this would have been a terrible faux pas, same as seeing photos of Bermuda back in those days, and even today. Being that you lived in that area back then, do you remember boulders at the end of the runway closest to the w

I say it is Maho Beach because of the various towers you see in the background from left to right in the far distance and no hills whatsoever behind them nor anywhere in Barbara's photo. The taller very thin towers (maybe for the airport) seem to have been placed along the curve of a beach (maybe Simpson Bay Beach) plus back in those days, Maho Beach near the Royal Islander area, was much wi

Thanks for the trip report! I certainly appreciate the time you took to report your time on the island. As we have always recommended, AI may be a convenient and economical way to go but it does remove the adventure of searching out great yet inexpensive places to enjoy dinner without being confined to a list. Of course, depending on the price, I think that most can save or even break even with

And so what is the new name and where will it be located Enzo? I will assume that it will be Italian cuisine. Finally, will you be open between 11/27 and 12/14 or will there be some time before the grand opening?

Well, I as well, would like to welcome Enzo back to SXM and wish him all the best in his new enterprise. Rick and I will certainly visit his new restaurant during our stay which is happily in less than 2 weeks. Vicki

There are 2 sides to every story and I believe that Tabba Khady did not mean to sound demeaning at all. There is sometimes a translation issue when someone reads something and bases their answer on the literal reading. I believe that Tabba Khady was under the impression that you were actually asking us who this person was rather than report your experience to us, which we appreciate. Nowaday

Pat, would you like me to bring one down? I could always just leave it there in the condo after your done with it. Why buy or lug one down and back when I could easily bring one and just leave it there for my guests to use if they're in the mood for baking during their vacation. Let me know. Vicki

Pauline, as I posted on TTOL, if you're still looking by the time you read this, PM me here and I'll check with the people at Rainbow to see if they still have room. I know that Ray from sintmaartenweeklyrentals (TTOL Sponsor) got on it through my connection. I think it was going for $100 pp and they had 2 speed boats going over.
