Thank you for taking the time to post the report; a very enjoyable read. One quick question - The Harbour in Marigot - was that Marina Port Royale? If so, was the full restaurant La Belle Epoque or Tropicana? Those 2 always seem to do brisk trade at lunchtimes whilst the rest have maybe 1 or 2 tables occupied. The last couple of times we've been in the Marina recently La Chanteclaire (where

I was talking to a couple of long time sailing residents last night & although they didn't know the answer they confirmed that there is a fairly large submerged rock just off Pointe Molly Smith. It is about 4' down & has been known to snag more than a few keels in its time! They also mentioned that the rock to the East of Geneve Bay (North East of Guana Key of Pelican) is called

Phillipe - thank you. That is an enchanting story. I shall look in the cemetery the next time I am in Marigot & report back. Maybe the one in Grand Case right by the point may also yield a clue? I have also been wanting to visit the museum in Marigot. There was an article in the Herald about it relocating a few weeks ago but, of course, I forgot to make a note of the address. Can anyone help?

Wow, thank you all for persevering. I went by there yesterday &, from the water, it looked like there was a rock/monument on the top of the higher of the 2 hills which, according my map is called "Smith". It just about shows up on google earth, but not too clearly. I guess it's private land, otherwise I'd be tempted to get my hiking boots on!

No need to apologize for the tread being "hijacked" at all when interesting stories are told - thank you all Having followed this forum for a while, I posed the question hoping that Barbara would be 1 of the ones who would know the answer. I guess piquing her curiousity too is the next best thing!

Hi all - I'm hoping that 1 of the long time residents will be able to tell me who Molly Smith was & what she did to have a piece of land named after her? I understand that that is the name of the point of land to the South of Grand Case. No particular reason for the inquiry other than curiousity & a love of the history of St Maarten/Martin! Thank you.
