T&D, This response may be a little late for you, but I played Mullet Bay a couple weeks ago (as I do every year on vacation) and the course is actually in the best condition I've seen in a long time. They recently purchased a new fairway mower and with the rains this year, the course looks great. The obvious issues remain so it won't look like the "Old" Mullet any time

I never met Bob either but felt I got to know him through his posts. I was always impressed with his passion for the island we all love. mc

We usually stay on the other side of the island in the Dawn Beach/Oyster Pond area, but the last two trips stayed at Royal Palm. We loved both the hotel and the location. The facility is very nice and the rooms have been redecorated fairly recently and are beautiful. As someone else mentioned, the beach isn't great but not bad. It's large, but the sand isn't white and soft like

If there is a second location, it sounds like it will be under a new owner. On Saturday (7/13), a bartender at Bikini Beach Bar told us the sale of SSBB had been finalized. We went to SSBB on Sunday and the waitresses and bartenders confirmed they had heard the same thing. Some said they had already started looking for other employment, thinking the new owners would close for a couple months f

It's important to note that if you carry on liquor purchased after you've passed security in airport, you'll be fine if you have a non-stop, direct flight. However, if you have a layover, you can't carry it on the next leg of your return. mc

You can take the ferry out of Marigot. When you reach Anguilla, hire a taxi driver to take you to Shoal Bay and also designate a time for him to pick you up for the return to the ferry. Someone here will probably know the departure times and cost. As I recall, the ferry was about $20 per person round trip and you'll need your passport. mc

Right. One would need to have his head in the sand not to see through your initial post. If all you wanted were restaurant suggestions in Marigot, that's all you needed to ask. mc

mikentara, It was nice of you to so politely answer tiny's question. Unfortunately, I don't think tiny is really interested in restaurants, just looking to use this forum to bash Philipsburg and indirectly St Martin. The "t" in tiny stands for "troll". mc

There is definititely electricity on Isle Pinel. What there isn't is water sports. There won't be any parasailing and the only wave runners I've seen there, I don't think were for rent. They were near the Karibuni restaurant and were, to the best of my knowledge, private. Pinel is best for a relaxing day away from the busy Orient Beach crowds. Nice beach, calm water, three

just-us, Obviously, you don't know Barbara. She was simply stating that this is a forum that doesn't promote the "lifestyle". There are forums that do and lots that don't. I don't think she was judging you, just letting you know this isn't the place to get your questions answered. mc

Barbara, For years there have been two or three guys hanging out in the parking area of Baie Rouge. They make it look like they're helping you park and sometimes (not always) make a comment about "keeping an eye" on your car. They are not shy about expecting a tip and the insinuation is your car may be at risk without their help. Then one of them directs you to the beach and

Accepted, yes. But required? Definitely not. Even the most upscale restaurants (La Samanna, etc.) are fine with a nice short sleeve shirt and slacks. Grand Case restaurants are fine with nice shorts too. Whatever you're comfortable with. mc

Mark, You're basically getting a hotel unit with an efficiency kitchen. It is a decent sized room, but at first glance you might feel disappointed. The first time we stayed at OBBR, we had the efficiency and after a couple days, we were perfectly fine with the room. You might check upon arrival with Marian about an upgrade. Since it's low season something might open up. It is a be

pat, You decide at check-in whether you want a/c or not. If you want it, they give you the remote control needed to operate it. I suppose one could add it or give it back mid week if they changed their mind. Once you have the remote, you're paying the daily fee whether you use it or not. mc

In a couple of years the whining about the Westin will be over and it will be one more beautiful addition to the island. We've been staying on Dawn Beach for years and as much as I miss Scavengers and the empty beach, I appreciate the fact the Westin development isn't a high rise. We were there two weeks ago and when they're finished with everything, it will look great. mc

beachwife, According to the developer of Coral Beach Club, his family sold the property to the Westin Corp. to build their hotel (far south end of Dawn Beach) and contracted with Westin to manage the Coral Beach Club property he is building behind Ms. B's. mc
